Does anyone have a girl in Sparks?

I am curious about this and I am considering putting my daughter in Sparks this fall. I would LOVE input...positive and negative. Thanks

subbing,as I am considering sparks for next year for my daughter,and I don't know a lot about it either.

Sparks is the youngest level of girl guides, for 5-6 year olds

I was in Sparks about 28 years ago and it was fun, better than Girl Scouts.

OK, well I understand that many people consider scouts, brownies, guides, etc. to be paramilitary organizations and that Baden Powell may have been a pedophile, but I think it can be fun. My friend's daughter loves it and gets to do lots of things she might otherwise not be able to do. And There's something to be said for having 12 cases of cookies in your pantry.

Sparks

A friend of mine was a leader for awhile. I think it's a great program. How can you argue with "I promise to share and be a friend."

para-military? that's news to me I went thru 10 years in the Girl Scouts, loved it so much. I have two daughters now, and will encourage scouting with them. I benefited from the program so much, since I was an only child. It has a lot to offer, and allows for individuality, rather than enforcing rigid assimilation.

We'll be checking it out later this month for the first time. Looks like fun. Is it para-military because of the structure/badges or survival skills? Sparks is focussed on 'making friends' and having fun I think.

Oh, come on, it's more pre-Junior League than para-military.

DD is doing Daisies this year (equiv. in US). I think quality depends on the troop leaders.
