What a fab idea! I'm making connections all over the place these days. Turns out that at least 3 other members of our local un/homeschooling group are pagan, which is both awesome and unexpected. The group has only about 35 members...so 4 of us in a group that size has my head spinning.

I've been trying to think what to do to get everyone together...I've only met 1 of the 3 IRL so far. But I was befuddled. A potluck is just the thing. Must think and start planning for either the October full moon or Samhain. Thanks for the inspiration!

And yes, you will find your rhythm with the 3 kidlets. In my experience the path to a smooth groove was much faster with 3 than going from one to two.

You know...I usually have some sort of protein, frequently of the vegetarian-friendly variety...but not that night. We were all in a veggie-love trance I guess. We had vast amounts of all of that...everyone was stuffed and no one asked for more food before bed. Maybe it was the protein in that homemade bread. I make bread just about every-other-day (thank the goddess for my bread machine!) and that's a big hit around here.

I am so happy with our farmers' market! Now if the neighbor's cow would have that calf already so we could just have some raw milk again. Life would be just perfect.

Sorry, ladies. I don't mean to put in like 35 posts but I just can't seem to get the hang of the multi-person quoting/posting y'all are so good at. By the time I respond to one person, I've forgotten all my other replies. And I can't even figure out how you do multi-quoting.

ANYWAY, we had a busy day again today -- always the theme when sweet & wonderful hubby has the day off. We went to a bookstore (the whole family is book-addicted) and I got a fabulous book called Mother Nature's Herbal by Judith Griffin. I love this book. It gives loads of herbal info but also a good bit of the various cultural histories of the herbs and their uses. So cool. I'm only about 60 pages in but I want to completely absorb this book into my brain.

Took the wee ones to a great playground and read my book whilst wee daughter napped and aforementioned beautiful husband played with the boys. At lunch somewhere and then headed home. Made more curtains (they are all done now, btw...will post pix on my blog eventually) none of them are fancy, but they are all functional and lovingly made.

But now I have a flaming case of insomnia and am up checking in.

I'm trying to get motivated to work on the other project I have planned for altar camp, but I'm just not feelin it today I am supposed to go to belly dance tonight.. and not feelin' THAT either. I think a weekend of me feeling a bit under the weather, and Quinn being so sick, has just worn me out.

Oh, forgot to share I reconnected with a pagan girlfriend that I'd lost track of this weekend! She txt'd me out of the blue.. it turns out she had almost as hellish of a year last year as I did, and tends to do a retreat when that happens (as did I). So we're hoping to get together on the weekend for lunch & coffee and just to catch up She lives about 45mins away, but thats about as local as it gets for me lol.

I am open only to a few friends,1 back home and 2 here, they are open but not anywhere near the same path as I am. Not on my facebook, and not in my everyday life because of where we live and DH's job. I feel the only way I am going to meet some Pagan, or open people is if I am out there, but am nervous to make that leap.

Well, I will...that just hasn't happened yet. Instead, they are finding me.

It's funny, I wasn't necessarily trying to be 'out' as a pagan, just to be me. So I included in my blog list of favorites Confessions of a Pagan Soccer Mom and I included on my facebook page that my spiritual inclination (one of those FB quizzes) was Pagan. And people from the local homeschooling group who are FB friends, starting contacting me and saying they were pagan too and were so glad to meet someone who shared their beliefs. Like...coming out of the woodwork!

I think maybe I have the advantage of being brand new to an area and just now making my way. I don't have established friendships to worry about or work to preserve. (All my friends from back in Indiana are already either pagan-friendly or unconcerned about it...or maybe clueless.) I don't particularly care what people think about me anymore, so I'm ok with being 'out.' And the totally cool thing is that focusing on just being authentically (not in-your-face) me is that I'm attracting to me people with similar beliefs.

That thread 'is it hard to admit you are not a christian' got me really thinking about the possibly damaging effects of staying in this particular (broom) closet. Paganism cannot move past stereotypes if we all remain hidden.

So I guess that's my goal for the coming months. Finding ways to naturally and fluidly become more peacefully-vocal about my spritital beliefs.

It's easy for me, now, but back in the beginning it wasn't. I didn't tell anybody. I finally got the courage to wear a small pent on a thong around my neck, inside my shirt, and one day at work it fell out of my shirt and someone said "Oh! You're Pagan?" and I about died, but she was supportive, not derisive, so it was awesome. I'm VERY open, now. You'll get there

Most people who know me, know I am not Christian. I was born Jewish and was practicing until my teens. As a teenager most if not all my friends knew I was Pagan, but I have no contact with any of my childhood friends. I am not so concerned with myself, how it will/would effect my life, but with my DH. I am me, but most people in this area think I am a tree hugging hippie, which I am. But there are a limited amount of them where I live. I am at the point in my life where I need to have some meaningful friendships, with people who are open or like minded. I just moved here 4 years ago, and live rural and am finding it hard to make connections.

Maia- Divorce day kinda sucked. Took 32 seconds to get divorced and the only people who celebrated with me were my parents. Well, my Dad went to bed shortly after my Mom and I got back from the casino. So, my Mom and I watched a very stupid "horror"' movie. She made popcorn and I drank some beer. Last night at my cousin's wedding our table, which had my grandparents, my parents, one of my sisters, my aunt and uncle, did a toast to my divorce being final. It was kinda cool.

My sister is having a BBQ today, its raining. I just want to go for free food and to see my nephew.

Yep, I absolutely do : As a matter of fact it's sort of become a test when it seems like someone might be a real potential friend that I might invest myself with... if they are uncomfortable with that part of who I am, then they aren't really comfortable with who I am at all...only the parts of me that are convenient for them ya know? So I'll slip something about Yule or Samhain.. or the fact that Ostara is coming and we'll be dying some eggs (even though easter is half a year away). If it results in me explaining briefly & getting a yeah? cool... then all good hehehe. I have been amazed that even some of my most mainstream friends were quite alright, and even THE most mainstream chick corrected her son (who was reading Harry Potter) when he said there were no witches and even made sure to make the distinction that HP witches were 'hollywood' and not 'real'.

Well, I didn't go to the BBQ. I didn't have a ride. My car isn't here since my Dad has been driving it. He left it at work when he rented a Ridgeline to go to my cousin's wedding.

I let everything hit me for little bit earlier. I got distracted by something so it didn't last too long. I suppose I should have another big outpouring of emotions, but I don't want everybody here when it happens. I kinda just want to feel it alone, without people telling me what I already know about being better off.

All I have gotten done today is cleaning a very stinky litter box. Oh, I did trip UP the stairs too. Basically, I am trying to chill and figure my life out.....its odd.

Though I don't seem to be as squeamish about the anticipation of caths as I am about NG tubes. Ick. And scawy.

It's silly to have to coach my own mother in being empathetic, but, well, she's a mom and she wants to solve it all. Sometimes I don't want solutions-- I'm a grown woman, after all-- but I do want empathy and understanding.

It's alright, Bella, if you need to let the emotions out. I'd be beating up pillows in a big way, if I were in your spot. And crying my eyes out, and all sorts of other emotions. I'm sure you don't need reminded, but I'm going to anyway-- there will be a grieving process attached to this, and you are allowed to go thru all the stages. Maia - I use 'ripped' or 'raped' depending how much money I feel that I lost. (No offense please to anyone that has been a victim of SA.) With a man cathing him you just hold it firmly in place. Prostates can be troublesome as can the retracted penis. Otherwise it's way easier. (and boy oh boy! I wanted to write something about how holding a strange man's penis reminded me of high school, but I didn't have the guts! So thank you for cracking wise! )

Scored some free formula off Freecycle so I am happy about that, and one more meal has gone into the freezer. I bought the beads for my lactation necklace and found a beautiful dichroic orange-y spiral that will make a terrific centerpiece for a great Mabon necklace. Had to get it! The baby's EDD is Mabon too! Woot!

And I also found these in the lastest issue of Belle Armoire Jewelry! Boy aren't these fun from Gaea beads?!

On being out of the broom closet - It just doesn't seem to come up that often for me. I am pretty open about my beliefs but haven't had any real issues with it. Except from MIL who would die. (Hmm, maybe I should re-think this and tell her! )

If we're grossing anyone out please let us know? lol That's why you point it to the ceiling.. then it pretty much *is* a straight shot. With women.. not only that, but if you don't get a clear path with your off hand (meaning get all bits out of the way) you cannot use those gloves to try again.. you have to reglove up and go again, and yes, same deal if the cath touches anything but air before you insert it (the sterile inside of the kit it came in excepted of course) But it really is not as hard as you think it will be... At one point I had 4 caths a shift on my unit and I could get them done in about 15m each (they were straight caths, not foleys .. so in & out) I never did NG's as I said, but with those i think you get the patient to swallow to ensure it goes into their gut instead of windpipe.. you can pm me to share all t he exciting details once you get into the mechanics of it hehehe.

Glad I could help a little! As people outside the 'normal' (in our faith and often in our lifestyle choices, considering where we're hangin out!) we truly need to get ourselves to a point where it's not about *them* wanting to be friends with us 'if they knew'. You may risk losing a friend or two but you will be living authentically and not putting on a mask around others... and you can bet that the right people, the ones you WANT to surround yourself with, will notice!

Ok.. got all deep & zen there for a moment LOL.

I'm having one of those days with the boys already : I'm srsly thinking about doing a runner when dh gets home this arvo and going to abduct a gf for coffee or something.
