I'm so glad she's ok!

Freak out/no sleep- every so often I re-read Faerie Tale (by Raymond Feist). I like the book, it's an interesting story, it's set near here, etc. But every time I read it I end up jumping at shadows for days. You'd think I'd learn!

Same reason I'll never live in a small town in Maine. (thank you mr. king )

Well, that's the rub-- they can't. Unless they make a "commercial kitchen". They can't just do it in a crock pot in their family kitchen and sell it to the public

both completely fell apart. i'm hanging by a thread, but i know we'll be "done" here soon... i just hope there's some of "me" left by that time, lol.
well...I don't like any of the parts about the freaky boyfriend so much, but I do like the rest of the story. I saw the movie LOTS before I read the book, too, so that was kind of freaky-- they had practically nothing to do with one another. I like them both separately, though, and I have read other things by the same author, and I liked those.

Sorry about your date night Hope you get to try again soon! ((((aweyn))))

Hey now, no dissing Stephen King He's one person I have to meet, someday, before I die. I totally love that man.

5th accident out in front of our house today. 5th in less than 2 years. I really wish we could get speed bumps on that freak corner. I'm scared to come to my own house from the one direction now, since almost all the accidents involved people coming from the other direction, not being able to handle that 90* curve.

I meant to say a huge THANK YOU to all who wished me well and gave me kudos with my exam!! I can't believe I read all those wonderful things and forgot to mention that
Took another exam Friday; who knows how that went. Nursing exams are totally convoluted. We'll have another on Monday, too. Eek.

Wonderful Mabon ritual tonight-- their altars were just absolutely beautiful. Thinking about altar camp, though I'm not participating, funny that it's happening now, because at the ritual they strongly encouraged people to create altars at home, even if they had no room for anything but an apple-- just as long as there's intent and a place/way to connect with the Divine in daily life.
Focus was on Durga, too-- funny we just had Indian food last night-- Divine coincidence?

I have an important exam coming up on the 29th of September. It's my real estate license exam. Please send good vibes, lighting of the candle, whatever it is that you do to help me pass this exam! I'll be studying my little heart out too.

Good luck on all the exams.

Practical Magic - I love that movie too! It was on tv the other day so I sat here and indulged in it! My favourite part is the end when the ladies all come together in ritual. It would be awesome to have people come over like that to help out for whatever reason or just celebrate the year together.

In that light...we are having ritual tomorrow night for Mabon. This is really a huge time for me to turn over a new leaf.

We got lots of cleaning done this evening and went to a picnic this afternoon. It was a good time. Tomorrow, I'm teaching a prenatal class before the ritual, so I should get in a few moments of calm and pack stuff for the ritual. It will be outdoors, so I should put all the stuff together.

We still had the windows open last night...I'll leave them open tonight too. Let the cool air come in and refresh our home

Totally hubby's favorite author ever, he owns pretty much every book he's ever written. Even met him once at a book signing and got to have a brief chat & got his book signed (prized possession that lol)

Well, it's sorta happening :S yours truly is having a hard time keeping up her obligations in the brief bits of time when I can get this fever to go down I've been like this for a few days now and it's getting annoying, although I'm sure it's just the 'crud' and nothing major.

The college that is around the corner from me has already had 60 cases of H1N1 since the start of school. 25 active cases as of Wednesday. One death in this town from it since school started. Other cases around the town.
How do I keep my boy safe? Other than a bubble.
Ok, I'm not really talking magical stuff and I do try to surround him with shield of sorts. He won't take supplements (can't hide them in the foods he eats, either.)

I'm even wondering about going to church. Even more exposure for him. Gah.
Think I'll call the doc in the morning and see if I can talk to him about my concerns with ds's immune system.

Valerie - glad to hear about your mom!!!

I'm actually on my lunch break teaching the prenatal class. It feels kind of odd being on MDC but meh I love the company!

Here, the weather is super sunny and awesome...we must be over 20 days without rain by now! They were calling for showers Tuesday/Wednesday but who knows.

DH and DD are getting groceries...yum! I can't wait to see the goodies!

The car beside where we park got their windows smashed in. How scary! Our car is totally fine but we feel bad. Only problem is, since we are in a building...we don't know who it is! And we can't even call the police to have them check it out...it has to be the owners

Tonight...Mabon rit! Yay! Should be a good time! I can't wait

Ds wants to bake today so we need to run to the grocery store. I'm going to tie it in with the equinox. Then, we'll take a nature walk and gather things to make a nature table/altar.
What are you guys baking for Mabon today?

I am going to put on a football game and try to make it more fallish here. It's hard to do when it's so freaking hot outside. But I'm determined!

Maybe when hubby comes home, we'll do a neighborhood bbq and get everyone together and do something to celebrate fall. Somehow make it pagan but not obvious enough for people to feel "put-off" by it. Maybe a wish on a paper and then burn it in our firepit. Something. Any ideas?

Valerie - happy to read the good news about your mom!!!

Well, everyone- it's almost tomorrow. They will be inducing the birthmom tomorrow. I am beyond a nervous wreck! My house is about as clean as it will ever get! I am soooo done cleaning.

My new neighbor came by this afternoon and dropped off a while almost new bedroom set for DD and is it ever cute! We are going out for ice cream to celebrate the equinox and maybe a new baby tomorrow for us!

I will let everyone know how it goes ASAP. Wish us ALL luck!!

I vaguely remember that story.

I want to get the new book Elfland by Freda Warrington. I love her writing.

This is what we did we baked some delicious zucchini muffins and took a long long walk outside and gathered things for our table. We also visited a corn maze which was so much fun

there's just no way for me to keep up! it was a crazy week....

hyperthyroid kitty started going down hill probably just reacting to our stress that overhung this whole past week... she hasn't eaten since Thursday... whatever she does eat comes right back up. and wouldn't ya know, she's got to puke this brown thick goo on the carpet (which is closer to beige than to brown). yuck. so i've decided to experiment with animal homeopathy. hoping that this dose of Ars alb kicks in soon so she'll start eating again and being her old self.

we had a bonfire last night - our informal Mabon one. only we didn't tell the neighbors (who came over) that it was our Mabon bonfire we did have ds's favorite neighbor come over for dinner: rump roast, baked potatoes, green and yellow beans, and tomatoes, with an upside down coconut flour apple/green tomato cake for dessert. and then we had marshmallows over the bonfire with almost our entire cul de sac.

i made my Mabon wreath for the front door (yes, yes, working on those pictures!). probably my best wreath yet (though not at all made with natural things, unless you count the grape vine wreath base). i feel so... fake... but i jsut don't see to have the time to re-make one every year. on the other hand, i did get a smaller grape vine wreath so that when there are nuts and leaves on the ground, we can collect them, glue them onto the wreath, and then hang the wreath inside.

we're finally getting rain! i don't think we've had rain in a few weeks, so the last bit of my garden will be really happy.

i didn't like Practical Magic either. funny - it was on TV when we were visiting my folks, and i caught the last half hour or so. spent the time thinking what a silly movie it was. promptly removed it from my netflix queue when i remembered to do so. and was just thinking about it the other day - dh mentioned it - and that's when i told him it was no longer in the netflix queue. the acting was rather.... poor... i thought.

as for fatty diets... the carbs will kill you faster than the fat. saturated fat is a good thing - all your cell membranes need it and for sure you need it for hormones. carbs... well they're an easier way to make glucose (which can be made from fat too).

congrats on grants and good test scores and soon-to-be babes!

thumbs down to sucky technology - i'm having problems right now with Snow Leopard on my mac - for as long as they were working on it, you'd think they'd have gotten out some of these oh-so-not-obscure bugs. like, my wireless connection is up and down... we can't connect to our shared folder on the server... and mail keeps asking for my password every bloody time it checks for new mail. thank goodness, i've got it set for every 30 minutes instead of every 5 minutes (default).

Oddly apropos to Tracy's moon article... my mom is really pushing to be back in our life. It's driving dh and I batty (she just shows up, opens the door, and walks on in without warning). I wrote a letter today, and dh is going to proof it, and we'll send it off. I realize she has mental health issues and isn't necessarily "to blame" for her behavior, but still. The behavior is there and we need to protect ourselves and our kiddos. This is the moon to get it all out in the open and dealt with.

My bestest friend IRL is moving to Hawaii. Her family was going to visit us before they left but because of the H1N1 outbreak here they're not coming. I totally understand (the confirmed infection rate here keeps climbing and her son is immune compromised) but I'm still sad. What rotten timing! Originally they were going to move a month or two ago and would have visited in June... then the move was pushed back, the visit was pushed back, and now the health situation has hit. Bleh!

AND my mastitis keeps threatening to return! I'm still on ABX but every few days my fever spikes, my breast gets lumpy/red/swollen, and I have chills and crazy joint pain. It's no fun.

Gun- squuuuueeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! Hang in there and double yes to pictures! :

Exams- good luck everyone!
Oh Wombatclay! I'm so sorry you're having difficulties with the Mastitis. AND on top of that, your best friend can't make it. What a bummer. Hang in there. The things we go through for our babies!
Hello all. I hope everyone had a great weekend. Clay, stinks about you best friend not getting to visit, and the move in general. I moved away from my best friend and I could kick myself!

Ok.. I still have a miserable temp (isn't it amazing that 100.4 can knock a grown up on their bum, but kids can manage ok with 102???) AND a naggy cough and chest ache. I'm off to the doc at 2pm, please please think good thoughts for me that it's not a repeat of pneumonia?

Clay have ya tried a little extra pumping/expressing on that side after Tor feeds? AND, I'm sure you're doing this already but just in case , try funky different feeding positions.. ala football and such. I had reasonable luck keeping it down to a dull roar that way, till atb's got rid of it totally.

Ok.. I'm off to lay on the couch till I need to get a shower to go to my appt. I'm stunned at how quickly I went from feeling 'meh' to feeling pretty darn bad.
