first, consider food intolerances (dairy perhaps?) because those can disrupt mineral absorption in your gut but somehow it can also cause the oversupply (haven't figured that one out yet). second, consider supplementing with magnesium - this will help relax the tissues and reduce the letdown. i use Natural Calm in my evening tea and when i was still nursing, i also loaded up on a whopper of a Cal/MAg/Zinc tablet. AND i did therapeutic epsom salt baths (like, 1-2c. of salt per bathtub). i also took ds into the bath with me because he had clear signs of magnesium deficiency as well. nothing like a little relaxing nursing session in the bath before bed.

Just a quickie update! I haven't heard from the agency since yesterday at 1:30, then the bmom was not going to be induced (because that apparently was a huge miscommunication with the agency, us and the bmom) but in active labor (or so she believed) and was hoping to wait until 6p if possible due to childcare arrangements. I haven't heard anything since. I sure wish I had better news!

Have a wonderful day.

Roo is home sick today. I wish other people would keep their sick kids home from school. This is how Roo gets sick in the first place. There were at least 2 kids in his class coughing in his face and one girl got her boogers (I'm talking a huge amount of boogers) all over the table, etc where Roo was sitting.

So fed up with people.

Anyway, happy Autumn.
Supposed to be mild later today.
Sure wish I had cream so I could have some tea.

gun- Thinking of you! Getting so close!

Clay, I figured you had it already covered but had to ask.

The improvised soup was delicious!

Gun - thinking about you!

i am so tired today. i have another appt today. my week is full of them. just trying to keep up on the thread. i am 37 weeks now. and i need a nap. lol.

cabbage stamps... i read that book. going postal.

Gun- Hoping today is the day

Clay- I'm glad you've got a good handle on things, better even if the abx do their thing.

LM- Are you all ready for the baby? Those 3 weeks can go by super fast.

I love hearing about everybody's dinner plans. I have no idea what I want to make for dinner tonight. Probably something with sweet potatoes. I am going to take my girls out to find leaves and acorns for fall projects. Luckily the weather we are having is wonderful! Hs in the park yesterday was awesome, too.
post #407 of 595
Gun- hang in there! You're getting so close!

Valerie- keep the ideas coming! I have mama-brain and even if I know something, I may not remember it unless reminded, you know? I wouldn't have thought to ask for the right abx, I'm just lucky my care providers are on the ball. And if I hadn't had a cabbage sitting there, begging me to find an excuse not to eat it (I hate cabbage), I probably would have forgotten that too!

bluets- I'll give it a shot. I've had oversupply for 4.5 years now and have gone through a number of different diets (dd1 was sensitive to things I ate so we did the 6 week elim diet and eventually I cut dairy, nuts, and wheat)... but it's been a long time since I did a serious diet overhaul. Well, other than the gluten thing. It's probably a good time to take stock. About the epsome salts... we don't have a tub, but I have a footbath and a sitz bath. Would that work? I do use epsome salts in the sitz bath for perineal healing but it's not an every day thing.

It's pouring rain today... and suddenly there are leaves on the ground and the fields have gone all yellow/brown/umber. Very autumnal! Though since I need to get all the kiddos to the store today I'm hoping for a short break in the rain.

yes, just use lots of salt - 2x more than you would normally use - and sit in it for as long as possible. i read for full baths that you needed to do them for at least 12 minutes.

i just toss out dairy because it actually is the #1 allergen, and wheat is #2. the two share one thing in common: they have problematic proteins that bind to opioid receptors in the gut, then migrate to the brain, giving you that "feel good" doped up feeling. sadly, there is no substitute for melted cheese though i was pondering this during the night (after the smoke detectors went off! for no reason! three times! failing batteries?) and decided that bacon would be the only thing that might come close to satisfying the melted cheese craving.

sick kitty might be doing better. i used homeopathy on her on Sunday night and then again last night (different remedy)... called the vet to do a drop-off this morning but then saw that she pee'd (in the litter box)! yay! first time in a few days. i was force feeding her water and broth yesterday. she's eating again today and drinking - on her own accord. now to see if she keeps the food down and starts moving things through her bowels. dh thinks that she heard me talking on the phone to the vet office and decided that she didn't want to go back there.

i also asked my ND if he would let me intern him some time in the future when i'm closer to needing clinical experience. he said he absolutely would. and my friend who is setting up a birth center has offered me space in it - by the time i'm ready to take clients, the birth center should be ready to take clients too. now i have to finish muddling my way through clinical biochem and move onto clinical nutrition and the rest of the bazillion courses.

gluten-free goddess has a recipe for tomato soup that uses cabbage and she swears that you can't taste it nor will your house smell like it:
http://glutenfreegoddess.blogspot.co...mato-soup.html

i'm hoping to try it (hrm... maybe tonight!)... and will keep you posted. dh and ds both HATE cabbage. so i have 3 small heads in the fridge that need to have something done to them... and i've already got lots of sauerkraut so i need to find something else...

Wow this is a lot to catch up on, but I don't have the time now. Just wanted to pop in and say hi, hope everyone is doing well. Big hugs to all who are under the weather, hope you get better soon.

Hi all.

I was gone until Sunday....saw my stepson and my ex-husband on Sunday. My ex told me he still loves me, even had my stepson give me the same message.... yadda, yadda, yadda. I told him he was playing me and gee, what do you know he was. He waited until his GF was out of town too. I saw him yesterday to talk and now he's claiming I want him back and to leave him alone. Too bad I flat out told him I won't take him back multiple times over the last couple of days. Now...I am just angry.

Have my first counseling appointment tomorrow. I think I am gonna hang in bed today.

to all.

Purple Pototoes - I love love just because they are fun. They taste mostly like potatoes to me - maybe with a little carroty/turnipy taste in the background. The ones I made Sunday were "purple vikings" - dark purple outside, white creamy inside, with a purple ring about 3/4 out from center. So they make really pretty oven fries. I also by some purples that are smaller - more similar in shape to a peanut potato. I also love buying the rainbow carrots - red, purple, white, yellow and orange - but I haven't seen as many of those this year.

I hope everybody infections & icky's clears up.

I've had some congestion crud going on for a week. I think it is allergies - but I'm not sure if it is from mold/falling leaves or gluten. I have gluten issues and have to do a periodic elimination diet. But, I don't have the motivation yet to fully remove it from my diet long term. Right now I am still tapering down the gluten intake - hopeing it is environmental. Once the baby comes and I'm home for leave it will be easier avoiding the gluten but work lunches are so much easier when I can just snack on easy food - i.e. sandwiches wheat bread I keep in the fridge at the office.

DS also is congested - but teething is contributing. He is in so much pain at night - I don't quite know what to do. We are doing Hylands Teething tablets, Boiron Camilia and tylenol, lots of frozen fruit, he's back preferring a bottle with nipple instead of a cup too. Some days is sleeves are soaked from drool running from his fingers in his mouth and running down to his elbows. At night he falls asleep and wakes up screaming within 2-30 minutes. We've taken to driving him around for an hour the last 3 nights because at least bumpy mountain roads soothe and distract him enough to get him into the deep sleep.

O.M.G that is disgusting! That's how Lucas ended up home .. people continually send their SO obviously sick kids to school (yep, medicate them for that fever & ship the little buggers off!) I know people have to work and all, but sheesh!

Wow, what a game playing UAV. Honestly, think borderline personality there with all that gaminess I don't think you need to see him at all 'to talk' .. the two of you have zero to talk about anymore, he saw to that. Good for you getting to a counselor.. after the mind**** he's dragging you through it is a good thing!

I'm on the mend mamas.. still a bit slow moving, and still coughing my guts up, but the fever seems to be breaking finally Must go out and help connor water the veggies, since when I tried to do it when I was really sick I broke the watering can lol... so we're stuck using a pitcher for now.

That is SO gross! Ew!! I'm sure this is a dumb question, but does he wash his hands for two rounds of Happy Birthday when he gets home? Not that that will do anything for any buggies he's already caught, but who knows, it might.
I always mean to have DS wash his hands when he gets home, but I forget more often than I remember

There's one case of flu in his school right now. They're "assuming" (the doctors are-- don't they know?) that it's H1N1 because it's "too early" in the season for regular flu.

That's what we had for the last 3 days or so. Heavy, driving rain. The rivers are overflooded, and R's 3rd grade camping trip got postponed cause the Forest Service called the teachers to say the campground got flooded-- and they had to go in and rescue people that were already there!
And I'm noticing leaves on the ground, and some on the trees are yellowing. I can't wait to see the mountains in their glory, and put the flannel sheets on!
Unfortunately, it's supposed to be near 80 for a couple of days

You better watch it, mama-- you'll go into labor because you're not packed

Got link? Or book or evidence that I can check out?

Had a "virtual" class today-- so I had two people over for study group, and we pooled food and had a yummy feast: I made veggies and baba ganoush, and kale chips, Veronica made sesame edamame and brought Earl Grey tea, and Yejin brought Kim Chee and curry, and brought Sam's Club sampler cheesecakes Oh, and I made rice for the curry.
Coulda got more studying done, though!

Hi

Ok, I'm curious if any of you are primarily drawn to the more tradition style of Pagan and Wiccan Rites and Rituals? I think that from the very begining of my journey into Wicca I was very drawn to the formal ritual aspect and the illuminating energy that came with a very structured ritual. I find that my longing for more traditional rites seem to get in my way of meeting other pagans/wiccans. I tend to take myself a bit too seriously most of the time lol, but it really does cause a problem with me connecting with others of similar belief. I'm curious if anyone relates or if anyone has any advice for me? I guess I could use some advice. \

Namaste,
and thanks in advance

Yes, I have him either sing two rounds of happy birthday; Count to 30; or sing the alphabet song slowly.

He's also supposed to wash his hands before eating at all but I don't know if the school is following through.

Ok, he's moaning in bed so I better go.

fall weather-- the next person who mentions windows open or fall leaf colors is going to be accused of making me cry. i opened up the house for a few moments today because it wasnt "too hot"... probably 85? sigh.
on the upside, i went for a night swim last night and between the bats and the moon and jupiter, ohhh, it was loverly!

fall food & rituals... yum and huzzah! such wonderful autumnalness. i made the first pumpkin pie of the season, and ds loved it so much he had some for breakfast the next day. he so takes after his mom. heehee.

val, glad your mom's better!

aeress & maia, thanks for the hugs!

cari, hon, gesh. epsom salt baths to help clear it out and amino acids to rebuild... that's my only rec. poor thing. hugs!!!

dok, i dunno, sounds like a bubble isnt a bad idea. that's awful that people let their kids go like that. ok, this is maybe a bit out there, but since i know you have a hard time adding food/meds/etc.... what about something like subliminal messages to build immunity... or maybe "toning"?

clay, i was going to suggest epsom salt baths (again, ha! twice in one reply. gee, i really am turning into my grandmother, lol), but since that's hard, and maybe bluets will know if this would help, but what about cell salts? (and of course, there's always tapping.....)

~~~
those of you who liked the herbal potions bit of practical magic, you might enjoy the book i just read-- "A Rose for the Crown"... i lurved it and cant wait to read the next one...
did you hear the one about the jedi who was asked to remove his hood while grocery shopping? no, really....
i'm trying to re-make that very important personal decision... wish me luck!
hugs and happy, healthy vibes to all!
I'm contracted to the local school district doing flu prevention planning and spend a couple of dozen hours a week talking "flu and general ickies." I've learned a few really disgusting things. One was that at the elementary schools, the kids frequently only have 20 minutes for lunch. If they get a hot lunch, they have only 10 minutes to eat. So... they don't take the kids to wash their hands before eating, even though its policy. Worse, some kids are at recess or PE first, so come in with visibly dirty hands. They just squirt hand sanitizer on and "make mud." I heard this from a school nurse who was trying to get permission to buy baby wipes with school budget so they can at least wipe off dirt before the sanitizer. I was flabergasted.
For 3 years I have been working on a contract doing emergency planning for the school district, everything from earthquake to wildfire to flu. What I have learned is beyond disturbing. My boy is not even 2, but when he enters the school system - pity for his poor prinicipal. I am going to be one of THOSE parents, but worse - because I'm educated and come with an insiders perspecitive.
