Stunned

Anyone else just still so surprised that they are pregnant? I. am. stunned. I keep taking tests to make sure it's real. The first one was all sorts of planning out and waiting to ttc and then charts and hoping and then disappointment and then this...BAM! I am shocked. I mean, I really cannot believe that I got pregnant last month!

I keep telling DH that this is going to be one roller coaster of a baby b/c it's already waging a shock and awe campaign on its mommy and daddy!

Still in shock and awe. I shouldn't even be here right now because of my DH's fertility issues (given his diagnosis, it should have taken IVF for us to get our BFP.) My daily cup of coffee was giving me the jitters last week (very unlike my usual) so I tested just so I wouldn't feel guilty about drinking my beloved coffee.... totally didn't expect a BFP and BAM- there it was

Are you going totally caffeine-free? I understand some coffee is considered safe. Any reason why none for you?

i am completely shocked. this baby sort of jumped through some hoops to be here (and is in a conspiracy with my body, which ovulated early this cycle for some reason!). the whole thing is really surreal and i have trouble imagining life with two. but i will get used to it i'm sure!

I'm glad you asked this b/c I went back to some articles I'd bookmarked and found this by a midwife:

I know that some is generally just fine. I am trying to get rid of the NEED to have it which I have felt for the past few months. During my last pregnancy, I would have a caffeine drink at least once a week as soon as I got through my first trimester. My was never overly concerned about caffeine intake.

Part of this stems from having also been on a class c drug for three weeks at the time I discovered I was pregnant and having had a beer almost nightly to help with migraines. All of those things has made me feel super overly protective of the little sea monkey which is why I am doing a purge right now. I'm super paranoid that I've done some damage.

I could have written this verbatim in terms of early ovulation and just some sort of body conspiracy going on.

i also had a super milky iced coffee every day after the first tri last time around because i started getting wicked headaches in the second tri but having a bit of caffeine in the morning staved them off (the headaches were hormonal, not b/c of caffeine withdrawal as i don't drink caffeine normally). i think it's fine. i understand feeling nervous/protective though as my 30th birthday party at 6dpo and i definitely consumed a couple of glasses of wine that night and feel a little guilty about it. however, this early on the baby is not being affected by such things so try not to worry too much!!

Stunned is definitely how I feel! This was quite the surprise. I have been charting to avoid, and we generally were good about using protection, but one morning, well . So here we are preggo with our first! I have been waiting for the coffee aversion to kick in, but nope, it still tastes great. I limit myself to a cup of half-caf in the morning, though.

My aunt said it will feel more real when you can't fit into your pants!
