How do you clean your mattresses??

Please help! I just got a demo from the Kirby vacuum and found out just how dirty our mattress is. How do you get rid of all the dust/dirt/dander from a mattress?? How can you get it really clean and odor free?? Our dd sleeps with us and now I feel really bad about all the allergens that are brewing in our room. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Vacuum the mattress every week with an attachment, then spray with full strength white vinegar (in a spray bottle) and let it dry. White vinegar kills dust mites, sanitizes and deodorizes. Once dry, put your clean linens back on. After a while, you might cut back to doing it once a month (sheets still weekly at least, though).

Also, buy a mattress pad / waterproof cover for each bed in your house so that dust and dead skin don't even get to the mattress.
