Favorite cloth diaper for EC?

As it says in the title - what is your favorite cloth diaper to use while ECing? I loved my prefolds until we started EC (late - at about 10mos), but then my Motherease snap fitteds became my go-to diapers.

But what do you find are your favorite/easiest diapers for potty-opps? When we're home I find nakey bum to be easiest but DH isn't so fond of it and DS hates being laid down to have a diaper put back on (and I don't blame him!)

I find that an elastic prefold belt with a trifold prefold diaper is the closest thing to nakey butt while still allowing the protection to catch any misses. I only use that system around the house though.

For outings, I experiment with a variety of prefolds/covers and pocket diapers I would experiment with more (AIO) if I could afford it. I don't have a favorite. They all have pros/cons.

Does the prefold belt system work with a mobile babe? DS is this close to walking...

When DD was about 5mo we switched to cloth trainers and never looked back. I'd probably make that switch even earlier if I could do it all again.

We used the prefold with belt idea for bedtimes, but during the day it was 100% cloth trainers. Bongo Baby, uhh... ones I think called Hot Bots? I've actually forgotten lol... No, it's Bright Bots, there ya go. There's lots of types out there. Continuum Family has lots of great ones.

There are some that are just straight pull-up, perfect for the kid who doesn't want to lie down to get changed. And there are snap-side ones, great for not smearing poop misses all down their legs heh... We only rarely ever had poop misses though, so we didn't bother with the snap ones.

The thing is, if you're doing EC, then at most you're going to have one miss to absorb. "Diapers" are designed to absorb multiple pees. We don't need that. It gets wet, we change it right away. Cloth training pants are designed to catch one pee, perfect!

DD was into undies full-time during the day by around 12mo or so... we still used the trainers for excursions and overnight, until around 18mo when it was undies full-time during the day. Now at 2.5 we still use the trainers at night about half the time, but we don't panic when she's still just in undies either.

I agree about trainers, just enough to absorb the one miss is all we need. I love eca-pants. They can be put on while standing up. My dd is ok with pull-up trainers, I think she kind of likes putting them on, but during a potty opp she wants them completely off, so eca-pants are much easier for us!

I loved my Bumkins all in ones. Easy on. Easy off. Easy potty-tunity by taking it only half off. (And boy, trainers didn't work for us...dd peed a flood every time. She likes to hold it as long as possible, I think....kind of like her camel mama...)

I loved my prefolds with a prefold belt. It was really easy for quick "pottytunities". Now, though, I'm switching over to trainers, because I find that they've been helping a ton with my DS's awareness and we've been getting lots more catches. I think the closeness of the trainers helps him be more aware than the prefolds held on with the belt. Have any of you also found this to be true?

decipher cloth diaper options?

17 weeks pregnant with first child and have pretty much never hung out with babies or kids for extended periods of time. So everything is new to me.

This post intrigued me since I'd like to give ECing a go right off the bat and wanted to know what everyone's faviourites were. I don't think I even know anyone who has gone the cloth route, let alone EC. Any good links/guides to figuring out the cloth diaper options? I read these posts, but can't always figure out what you are talking about. I get prefolds and snappis and diaper covers, but the belts and training pants haven't come under my radar yet. Is the stuff easy to find? Windsor's not the backwoods, but I'm guessing that a nice selection of cloth diapering supplies is harder to track down than going to my nearby Walmart.

Anywho, I'm getting off-track. Thanks for the post. It's just what I was interested in knowing! I should probably venture over to a different thread.
