Unvaxed toddler, Massage Therapist mom exposed to...

DD is 24 months and completely unvaxed. I worked on a woman today who, when asked about the rash on her back, said it was a heat rash. During the massage she mentioned she just finished nursing school and had a round of shots, including, 2 flu shots, MMR, and quite a few more (in the past week/month)...she had a severe rash on her back, and once I got to her hands, found a rash on her wrists and palms as well. When I asked her if she got the rash post-vaccination, she connected the dots and said "oh, it must be an allergic reaction"... I'm wondering if I could possibly spread anything to DD after working on this woman. I'm not too worried about it, but I can't remember what other vaccines she received... I don't have the internet to do my own research at the moment (posting from my phone), but I would appreciate a quick response! Thanks, Mamas!

why on earth would you work on someone who has a rash and may be contagious.. why would you massage someone with a skin rash?

measles.. if you get it.. is no big deal.. people used to get it all the time..and it was no big deal.. the flu.. i would not want both at the same time.. but i would be cautious...there is always the potential of spreading it.. but it seems odd to me that even in a medical office for someone to work on skin that is broken out into a rash... unless you are applying medication of some sort and then you are supposed to take the proper precautions..

wash up and take your work clothes and shoes off before you get in your car put them in plastic and soak them in some kind of bleach.. personally i use peroxide bleach.. be careful about the contact you have at home.... ugh.. and people complain about unvaxed.. there is something wrong with the way people views on disease are.. i find that to be ... ugh can't think of a word for it.. but geez!

Awesome. Now I'm paranoid! And for good reason! I was told she wasn't contagious and blah blah blah...she just finished nursing school and had the whole round of shots. Am I a total royal a$$ for working on her?! She was crying about her marriage when I asked her about it so I went against my own judgement to help her relax...plus she said it was a heat rash and in the middle of the massage said she had been vaccinated recently and fell ill and I brought up the rash and that's when she connected the dots. Wow!!!

this woman should have been put in a quarantine camp..

just be careful.. you have to keep an eye out for symptoms.. what else can you do.. be diligent with your supplements and keep everyone on a healthy diet... all you can do it wait.. but if there were no bodily fluids exchanged there is little chance you will contract anything... but i would take everything off and put it in a plastic bag b4 i got in my car... that would SO CREEP ME OUT.. i mean really... this is a health proffesional (person you worked on)??? if that were me i would not be exposing people.. ugh.. creepy.. i certainly would not want people massaging my vaccine rash.. UGH

that woman has a serious lack of hygene and ugh..how unproffesional.. and this person will be working in the medical realm..?? UGH,,,UGH!!!

Medusaatemydog - I didn't mean for my post to come off ignorant...I know most of what you said, I am still learning, but yes, I assumed her rash was an allergic reaction and was not contagious, bad judgement on my part, especially since every other therapist I work with said not to worry about a rash caused by a vaccine (and I tend to take what they say into account) even if I am anti-vax when it comes to my DD... Just wanted to see what others on here thought since we all share like-minds.

I hope that was the end of it, but if not, isn't lack of vitamin D linked to measles complications?

That doesn't seem right to me as I type it, but I would just be sure to be very diligent in the next two weeks of the best possible diet you can give your family, avoiding sugar and dairy more than usual.

I would also refrain from sharing this with too many people, as measles tends to freak people out, beyond reason.

I bet nothing happens!

My ND told me that vitamin A was what they "treated" measles with and as long as someone has a diet rich in Vit A they shouldn't have complications.

i am more creeped out by a vaccinated person .. than someone who actually has a natural disease.. the thought that someone will go around with a vaccine induced rash and have expose people to thier lack of hygeine tells me there is something seriously backward with the way people view these diseases.. people are scorned for giving themselves the possible natural immunity yet people who go and shoot themselves full of disease and adjuvant are viewed as being responsible... what a twisted medical proffesion we have.. i want to have another child but the more i learn about mod med the more scared i am that i will wind up in a hospital with a greedy doctor timing my labor for the c section option, then having to employ someone to stand over my child because it is likely they will try to vaccinate or inject my child with whatever against my will... and what kind of injection will the nurses who are taking care of the babies get.. perhaps the new swine flu vaccine.. maybe a live contagious one.. i'd rather have an unvaccinated nurse deliver my child than a vaccinated one... i feel like i'm surrounded by terrorists... my new word for the medical proffesion because in all honesty they put me in a state of mind where i feel like i'm being terrorised.. ethics are obscene

Why?

If you get infected from a vaccinated person, the virus has already passed through them and is back to the natural virus. The VERY virus that was injected into the person is not the VERY virus you would get. You would be in contact with a virus that this person has self-produced because they were infected with the pathogen via vaccine.

Then you would be producing your own viruses from the first few that you were infected with. You would pass on your viruses and the next person would again produce their own viruses in response.

We carry these diseases in us. See why in the older days they said it was necessary for children to get infected so they can rid their bodies of these diseases and build immunity?

btw, I agree with a lot of your other points.

I had the exact same rash you describe after getting the DTP vaccine as an adult. I became severely ill with what I'm assuming was diptheria. No one in my family became ill, but they were all vaccinated. So yes, I would be worried about your unvaxed child possibly getting diptheria. But while it was a pretty awful and lengthy illness, I recovered eventually with no longterm ill effects.
All I can say is, don't ever give a massage to someone with a rash!! That is not a good idea, ever. Very bad hygiene.
