Scared of writing

Thread Starter
(First off, apologies for giving grammar pros conniptions.)

Throughout my time in school, I was terrified of writing. I'd end up missing deadlines completely or writing papers at the very last minute. I'd also resist editing because then I wouldn't have enough words to make the count (tiny tiny word count).

Only, I adore reading and regularly write a few hundred words at a time here and at other forums.

So, all you mamas who are : about writing, is there a gentle way to ease into a writing habit? And to stop thinking of myself as a person who "doesn't write"? Sort of how people who "don't do math" can realize that they're already using math and start doing projects that need more math.

Just start doing it. I would start writing a regular journal every morning maybe...don't be concerned about how it reads to start, just go on pure inspiration. Then maybe do small book reports for yourself, your thoughts on a newspaper article.

Then maybe check out some writing forums that give prompts and start writing using those.

And don't be concerned about how good or bad it is, it's not about quality writing at this point, it's about simply writing.

And good luck!

I've always been a writer, though I've gone through off years.

I found a blog really helped me. What topics interest you...something that could keep you going? Exercise? Home birth? Recipes? Just a little each day.... you'll be surprised.
