postpartum breakup?

My fiancée just broke up with me yesterday.

She has been exhibiting unusual behavior lately, and this is the icing on the cake. I won't go too far into specifics, but I can't help but see a connection with this pattern of behavior, and the same thing happening 2 years ago.

84 days (12 weeks) after our first child was born, she attempted to break up with me, after a few weeks of not acting like herself at all. It wasn't until 6 or so weeks later, when I was really about to give up and walk out the door for good, did she finally snap out of it.

Now this most recent time, same behavior patterns, actually worse this time, and she breaks up with me exactly 85 days (12 weeks, 1 day) after the birth of our second child, citing the similar reasons as after the the first breakup, even though now the don't really hold the same credence. Am I missing something here?

Any insight as to what may be going on would be very much appreciated.
Thank you,

EBear

You're definitely onto something, and postpartum depression may be the cause, or at least a contributing factor. Is there any way you can get her to a care provider for an evaluation and maybe some drug therapy and counseling? I think she probably needs some outside assistance.

Hang in there, and good luck.

It's very difficult to answer without knowing the specifics, or her side of the story. It sounds like PPD could be a factor. How was your relationship when she was pregnant? What reasons does she give for wanting to break up?

I would definitely encourage both of you to seek counseling.

Can you suggest couples counseling to try to repair things? If PPD is an issue the couples counselor might be able to refer your fiance to someone - which takes the pressure off of you getting her to seek treatment. Good luck.
