I am 27 years old and I have polycystic ovarian syndrome. I do not ovulate at all and want to get pregnant. I do not have insurance at this time. I have been with my other half for several years now. I was told I would have to go on the drug clomid, but the doctors here think I need to see a specialist and pay him tons of money. I ordered clomid off of medsmex, 50 mg tabs. I was wondering since you have to have no prescription are the drugs from there safe?I would like to take the drug myself but think this can be dangerous without knowing when to tkae it what to do. I do not want to pay a specialist. Can i take this drug myself and get results? Is there special monitoring? I am tired of giving the doctors all my money trying to fix me.

I've never heard of being able to order drugs without a prescription? How do they come through customs? (Is it called customs for mail?)
Anyway, if you want to order it from a pharmacy, I think it's only about $20/month without insurance.
Clomid is how my friend with PCOS began her treatment. So, it's a good start for you. Are you seeing an OB who can prescribe for you and follow up after a cycle? They're usually the ones who treat with clomid - a specialist may start with it but usually progress quickly past it.

Just a thought. . .you might want to try Soy Isoflavones before clomid. It is natural and I would think a little safer than using Clomid without a doctor. There are not near as many side effects and so far it's worked really well for me. I took clomid to get pregnant with my first two babies and the side effects were horrible (mood swings, hot flashes etc). This time I'm trying to avoid that option. . I took Soy last cycle (just like clomid) and i actually ovulated!! I couldn't believe it. I took 120mg days 3-7. You can get them at walmart for like $6. I ovulated on day 24. . so still a little late, but way better than not at all!
Hope that helps!

Oh boy, Clomid use needs close monitoring. Using it can result in many eggs being released at once. What do you know about Clomid use? Do you realize that the vast majority of high-order multiples (4 or more babies) are due to Clomid use, even with proper monitoring? If you can't afford insurance, do you have plans to raise four, five, six or more babies at once?
Clomid works by stimulating the ovaries to produce eggs. A doctor will monitor how may follicles are reaching maturity. The gal is one or two, and then Clomid is cut and you have lots of sex and hope one of the released eggs meets with sperm. If a cycle has too many follicles produced, the cycle is aborted (medical speak for ended). You're instructed to not have sex. Too risky to have several eggs release at once because they can ALL fertilize. There is absolutely NO at-home equivalent to this monitoring. It requires ultrasounds.
I understand entirely the desperation for a baby, but this is a very bad idea to do on your own. Octomom is the exception who had a litter doing something other than Clomid. Jon&Kate+8, the Dilleys, etc., were alll the result of properly-monitored Clomid cycles. Even with doctors, six babies happens. This risk should be cut.
Seriously, don't do this on your own. It's just far too risky.
