We have a pet rat, a 15 yr. old yellow lab female from lab rescue (we have had her for about 6 yrs.). 9 yr. old GSD that we found on the side of the road and no one claimed at the shelter (we have had him for about 4 1/2 yrs.), 2 1/2 yr old blue nose blue pit bull that we have had for almost 1 yr. that we found neglected and chained with no shelter, food or water. We paid the "owner" $150 and spent another $300 to get her spayed, shots, flea/tick meds, treat her heartworms and buy her crate, collar, leash and so on. She had spent her whole life alone on that chain.

She is now a super happy pitty and loves to be with people. She really loves kids. We also have 5 kittens that were dropped at another pit bull rescue that we took on since we didn't have room for more pits. (they were only supposed to stay with us a few weeks ; We have a 12 yr. old calico and she is getting old. Our last pet is our 16# tom cat named Mac who we rescued from our local shelter. He has 6 toes on each front paw and is very low key and likes our dogs! The calico was found by some friends and my dh took her and the another calico that was found with her in (the other calico died last year at age 17

So, we are suckers for unwanted animals. I swore I would never own a pit bull b/c they are dangerous. I now know that they are powerful dogs, but in my 2 years of rescue and dealing with them in general they are very loyal and sweet dogs who only want to be loved. Most of them are more goofy than anything else. I have never met one that I couldn't win over with a few dog treats. I have untangled several who had their chains so short that they couldn't even reach their water. Well, I now love the breed and hope that their bad rep can be turned around.
