wonderful blog by a midwife and her very timely thoughts on processing our births, birth guilt and healing birth trauma. Also includes some great thoughts on how women as a community can be better listeners.

didnt read it all, im eating 1 handed hugging a grumpy babe, but it made me realise that i have zero birth guilt about Henrietta's birth. Zero, none, zip, nada. that is monumental to me as i still carry birth guilt from the other 4.

will read it all later

Thanks for posting.

While I don't have guilt necessarily, I am doing a lot of questioning right now. I know it will not change the outcome but to accept it I need to somehow move beyond the questioning and accept we made the right choices for us in the heat of the moment.

Not in your DDC but wanted to say thanks for posting such a great site.

Birth trauma is something that so many people experience but it is rarely spoken of. There is that whole taboo factor - "well, your baby is healthy and that's all that matters" is heard way too often. The mother's feelings of grief and loss after ending up with a traumatic birth are often ignored. I know mine were. But thankfully, I turned my experience into the HBAC of my dreams this past July! I am going to do my best to let everyone know that it can indeed be done!
