Possibly urgent Question...

Hi. My family is living with my parents and siblings while we build our home. My sister is going on a mission and has to have certain shots in order to qualify. Today, she got the hep a, b, and MMR. (I did not know she was getting them this soon).

I am not vaxxed, nor are my children.

So here's my "possibly urgent question". I may be expecting--if I am, I am barely and no one knows. (I'm going to run up and get a test, but it is pretty soon to tell). Being that the mmr has the german measles in it, should I be concerned about my sister being contagious? As of two yrs ago, I was not immune to rubella.

Should I be avoiding her? How much? If it truly is a concern, then I may be able to take the kids and stay at my MIL's...how long would suffice? And would something like that even be necessary?

I'd really love some input. Thanks!

I don't have any advice for you but maybe having this up on the main page will catch someone's eye.

I would think, though, if you are concerned about it, just go to your MIL. If she's okay with it, it could be a fun adventure for you and your family.

The MMR is a live virus vaccine and *can* shed theoretically.

I agree, if you are concerned and can avoid her for a few weeks I would

How does it shed? Through the stool and for a few days it could shed via her saliva. Avoid going to the bath room right after her and don't eat from her plate, nor come close enough to get the virus from her saliva.

I would not be too concerned though if you are overall healthy. jmo

How long would I need to avoid her if that's the route I chose?

And should I concerned about using the same shower?

Thanks.

I would just use the same precautions one should always use. Wash hands, wash hands, and wash hands.
