Trying to decide... Ergo or Beco?

I'm getting started on planning what I need for the new baby, due in Feb.

This time around I'd like to have a more structured carrier-- I liked my wrap fine when DS was tiny, but he got very heavy very quickly!

So I'm looking at the Ergo and the Beco-- they seem pretty similar in terms of what they do, (except the Beco is prettier!) but maybe I'm missing something?

Anyone with experience with both types of carriers?

Go Ergo

I love, love the Ergo, it is very comfortable and doesn't dig or poke anywhere.
I have tried a lot of different kinds - I have had many babies and this wins hands down - go for this one!

I think you will be happy with either. I have both, but only use the Ergo at this point. My DS is 2.5, though.

Thanks for the opinions!

Ergos sure look sturdy. But I keep drooling over the Beco patterns. Will keep thinking about it.

I have both and prefer the becco hands down. I use both but keep the becco in the car for my trips out I find its much less bulky ( not as hot). Ive gotten many compliments on my becco

IF i had to give one up it would be the ergo.

Im 5'8" and found it much more comfortable to bf in my becco vs the the ergo my 5ft2 friend found her ergo much easier to bf in

I dont know if that makes a difference for you

Look into the Pikkolo too. It's like an Ergo, but can forward face and cinches at the crotch for smaller babies. I love mine.

Beco

This topic seems to come up pretty often. The trend appears to be that people who have both prefer the Beco and people who've only tried one are happy with what they have.

I haven't tried the Ergo. My SIL has one. It looks bulky to me compared with the beco, and more utilitarian. I've also heard that the beco is somewhat better made and the company has better customer service. I do like that the inner panel makes it is to change wearers, and to put a child on your back without any help or much practice. The body of the beco is also higher, which is good if you've got a baby or toddler who is a leaner.

The ergo is quite a bit cheaper than the Beco though.

Man, I am so leaning towards a Beco.

I'm not terribly tall (5'4") and I would like to bfeed in the carrier if necessary.

I agree that the Ergo looks bulkier and more utilitarian-- is it sturdier, though?

This is pretty much the only major purchase I'm planning for this baby, so I don't mind if the Beco is a bit more expensive...

Thanks for the thoughts and opinions.

I don't have a Beco, but will agree that they are beautiful. We chose the Ergo, mostly because it is more 'manly' for my DH to wear. It works well for both of us for longer hikes. Otherwise I used the sling or moby for around the house.

we tried out both at a local store and while i was for either, dh said he preferred the beco, so we went with that. i got the pick the print though !
and we really love it! it was such a lifesaver during the first few months at home, and even i don't leave the house without it.

I have tried both and lean slightly towards the beco. However, both mine are older versions, so the latest becos and ergos may be a little different.
