I Love Polly Pocket!

I know it's plastic, mass market, objectionable on so many levels. And my daughter, 2.5, is still too little for all the small parts. But yesterday at the grocery store she really wanted this Polly Pocket set. We looked at it together and she especially liked the tiny boots, and I went ahead and bought it for her. How did I ever miss these when I was a little girl? I loved barbie and my little pony but I never had a Polly Pocket. The little clothes and shoes and things are fun...and I want to play with it!

I had a polly pocket when I was a kid, I loved it! Mine didn't have any shoes or clothes, that must be a new thing.

Polly Pockets are SOOOO much different then they were when i was a kid. When I had them the little compactable houses could fold up and fit in your pocket. "Polly" or her friends were about an inch tall. Those ones were cool! I really liked those..I dont like the new ones

Those rubber clothes are so fun. It's almost soothing to slide those clothes on. I messed with those for hours.

Be careful though, the slippery stuff eventually wipes off and then they don't go on as easily, and then it's frustrating.

My dd (6) loves Polly Pockets. She has a bunch of them. I enjoy playing with them too. =)

Although I see the appeal, I'm a bit concerned with any toy that has parts small enough that you could actually inhale them!

DD likes Polly Pockets. She's also a huge 'Littlest Pet Shop' fan.

yes! LOVE them!
i actually found 2 of the teensy little dolls and 2 houses-a little treehouse and a fold-out mansion-at a thrift store for about a dollar. they've been faves of dd's forever!

I miss the old school polly pockets. I had a bunch as a kid. Makes me want to check ebay and collect the old ones, they were so fun! I bet my mom still has some of my old ones. Oh! I got this MASSIVE polly pocket VILLAGE for christmas one year. I hope my mom didn't give it to my niece. I want it back for MY little girl! omg I just remembered that.. she'd LOVE it!

The rubber clothes for the new ones, meh, my 2yo can't do them herself so it becomes a toy that she plays with via watching me play with them for her. And the %^@%^ cats chew them up! And despite my attempts to keep all the pieces in one shoe box unless they're being played with, I think all the pieces are evenly dispersed throughout the house. Oh well. It'd probably be a really fun toy for her in a year or two.

I'm too old to have had Polly Pocket as a girl, so these were new to us. I think the most frustrating thing is that the parts are so small that they get lost and that leads to a lot of frustration. We didn't let dd have these until she was about 5 yo. I have mixed feelings about them.

We have about a zillion "rubber girls" My kids have been collecting since my oldest was about 4 (she is about to turn 13) . my dog really loves them now so our collection is whitteling down....but they are great because the kids don't have to save up for very long to afford a set and you can spend $10 and get a something that will keep your child busy for hours.

So, unfortunately, does my dog. She maims about three Polly Pockets per week. I've got several Polly Pockets--the Marie Antoinette edition, sitting on my dining room table.

Mmmm. Almost as tasty as her absolute favorite snack, the television remote control.

Much easier to dress than any other doll we own!

Yeah, we love Polly Pocket around here. Their little clothes are so much fun.

the title made me smile. my 6YO niece has tons of them and she always tells everyone how we only play with them for a long time b/c of how much *I* like to play with them!

Ugh! Come play with my girls! I really detest the polly pockets. The kids can't do the clothes on their own so all I do is dress and undress them for the kids. So they can't really play on their own with them. Plus one of my girls likes to chew on the rubbery clothes, and lets face it those little shoes and slippers just slip down the throat easily!

That's how I was with my daughter's Groovy Girl dolls. I loved them, bought them for her with various accessories. Dressed them when dd was at school and placed them with the furniture on her dresser.

Wow! Thanks for all the replies!
I've never seen the tiny Pollies. That sounds adorable.
We only have 2 dolls, 2 dresses, a few other things...some of them are lost already! But the clothes are like fabric on one side, plastic on the other. My daughter can do them with a little help.
I do see how this could lead to insanity, injury, choking...don't get me wrong! And I have also realized this may indicate some unresolved issues from my childhood.
