RUDE doc...

So I took my 5 1/2 year old in for his Kindergarten physical today. We stopped vaxing him around 2 (and have no plans on doing anymore). I had already turned in the religious exemption to his school, which he started last week. When the appt was almost over she started in on what vaccines he was going to need today. (she's a new doc to the practice and we had not seen her before today)

me: "we aren't doing any today and we already have a religious exemption on file at his school"

doc: "oh, what religion are you because I haven't actually heard of one that has that written in their text"

me: I looked at her like she was an idiot and said "I'm not going to discuss that"

doc: "well, I must tell you that if your son catches a disease that kills him because you didn't vax, you can't sue me" (my son was sitting right there and heard that

me: "wasn't planning on it"

I mean, really

Did you check out that place I told you about? I took my 18mth in on Mon for a well checkup and they never even mentioned vaccinating. They are very laid back.

Weren't most religious texts (bibles) written long before vaxes were around? What a dumb comment. And rude. I would probably call that doctor and talk to her about scaring my child. It's one thing if she wants to talk to adults about her concerns about not vaccinating, but it's another to talk like that in front of children.

That's not just rude; that's unprofessional and inappropriate. I would be placing a call to the head of that office to let them know what an uncalled for comment that doctor made.

After the doc said this and my husband and I looked at her like she was a freakin moron, she got super nice and I think she realized how rude she was. Because she was SUPER nice after that and even said "so when you come back next year for his checkup just remind me you don't want any shots"....whatever, it should be in his chart if you can read. I think I will find someone who doesn't think I'm trying to kill my kid!

How about "honor the body as the temple of God"? What about faith in God as the ultimate physician? What about being made perfect in God's image? All of those are inclusive to the vaccine argument on religious grounds let alone, tons of others. And not only that, but she clearly violated a little law in this country called "discrimination on religious beliefs."
