washing ring slings

when you wash your ring sling, do you unthread it or put it in the wash as is? I really hate rethreading it and it takes so much tweaking for me to get it *just right* and its always the comfiest once its broken in. But of course, once I have it broken in its been spit up all over so much that it needs washing. Can I just leave it threaded? (its a maya wrap if it matters)

You could probably wash it as is but you'll still have to muss with it to get it "just right" again as washing will move it all around.
