Plants/Herbs used in labor??

Hi all,

I have to write a paper for an Intro Biology class I'm taking on my path to being a midwife...

I'd like to write a general paper about plants/herbs used in labor...And I'm also going to write about other natural methods for promoting labor, like intimacy/nipply stimulation - and various physical positions that are better that feet in stirup - i'm going to discuss the physilogical reasons why..

SO my question is...I know where to find the physical informatio, but can anyone point in the right direction to find information about plants/herbs used? I know there is a session being done on this at the Midwifery Today conference, but I don't want to wait that long to get going on this paper

I found this website yesterday when I was researching herbs for birth. Has some good info and includes herbs I hadn't associated with pregnancy and birth before.

I have used black cohosh, blue cohosh, evening primrose oil, shepherds purse, and red raspberry all together.

When I get a chance I will look at my books, I have a ton of resources.

Oh and all the herbs aforementioned are common herbs used in labour. They are some of the very basics. Also, are you looking into homeopathic remedies as well?

"Naturally Healthy Babies and Children" by Aviva Jill Romm has a small section on birth and you may want to look for more by the same author.
