Best cover tiny newborn?

Thread Starter
My new baby arrived, a good bit smaller than my last baby. The Litewrap and Thristies covers I have seem SO big over my prefolds. I didn't really like Bummies with my ds. Is there another good inexpensive cover choice for a 7lb newborn?

TIA,

Yes, the Prowrap covers are smaller than Thirsties (I had both in the xs size).

I know you said you didn't like Bummis but I think the Super Brites run small, definitely smaller than Thirsties and they have gussets too. Just another option for you. I think the Proraps are the least expensive though.

Have you tried the Bummis Super Brites? I liked those a lot. Many people swear by Proraps but I'm not a fan. They work, though!

I'm still collecting my newborn stash slowly. SO far I have one bummi super brite it is TINY and I can get the legs really snug on some of my DD stick thin dolls legs. I have a thirsties duo size one comming and a small MEAF comming with my "try it" kit I'm also planning on getting a nicky/Niji cover and probably a prorap I know with my DD all my covers were WY too big but I didn't have anything other than Gerber pants and then small bummi SWW latter so I'm actually looking foward to seeing diffrent types and jsut seeing what works best.

I used to love the soft cottony ones I had that were I think Nikki brand, but that was years ago and I don't think they make them any more, at least I can't find them. I got them used at thrift stores, and they don't seem to sell used diaper covers at thrift stores any more.

Prorap newborn covers fit small 6-10 lbs. and the preemie cover 2-6 lbs. often fits great on 7lbers. too. They have a low rise. Proraps come with snaps OR aplix and they are made in the USA.

Imse Vimse come in preemie, but they're probably more pricey...

Nickki make my favorite covers there a bit pricier (and more sizes to get) but there durabality and breathability and trimness rock. There are a few places they can be bought my two favorite are

http://www.babybunz.com/diaper_covers_47_cat.html not only do they carry the full line of these covers but the great ecconomical snugglebottom fitted a super find especially for the early stages.

and

http://www.babyworks.com/catalog/dept.asp?dept%5Fid=12 a company with good basic ecomical choices and great customer service.

It's my experience that nothing fits a baby under 5lbs but preemie proraps and preemie imse vimse come the closest. Everything else is ginormous. On a tiny one, it's the rise and legholes that are the biggest issue. On a 6-7lb baby, I would go with the preemie proraps because they should fit just perfectly. Thirsties run quite big, as do litewraps but are fabulous covers that are great when they get a little bigger. But proraps are perfect for tiny newborns and the price is even better.
