who are we? - Page 2

HI everyone...I dont feel comfortable putting my real name out there because of my ex but you can call me T. I am almost 26 yrs old. DH and I had DD in 2207, she was still born due to a ntd. We got pg 4 months later with DS. DH left me a week after I found out I was pg with DS for no apparent reason. So I suddenly found myself a single mama. it was a blessing in disguise for me. I became a better mom do DS then I ever would have been had DH stayed in the picture. I guess Im semi crunchy. I co-sleep with DS. tried doing the homemade baby food for a bit but that didnt last long since DS didnt like baby food lol And Im doing delayed and selective vax. I am pg again (obviously ) this time a single mama by choice by doing AI. I am very excited to be expanding my family!

it *was* really nice. i organized it last time and i actually was never the featured mama because of that lol. what we did last time though was have a sign up thread that i just kept track of and i just started a thread each week according to the order in which mamas had signed up. then everyone chimed in with questions for that mama.

we would just need someone to start the thread every week. i don't know if i want to volunteer because i have a lot of crazy happening this semester.

Well, I can try it if everyone is OK with it. If someone else would like to I'm cool with that too.

Hi everyone : I joined MDC in March 0f 2008 when I found out I was pregnant. I really only folks from my DDC which was December 08. I'd like to point out that sweet baby girl Evangeline arrived three weeks early so she is in fact a November baby.

We just have DD for now but are looking forward to having a new addition. We happily live in Baltimore City and I work at a local college. I love my job and am still wrestling with different options in terms of WOHM and SAHM. Truth be told, I am invigorated by the mental stimulation my job provides and therefore feel more centered as a mama. I'm lucky in that I supervise a dept and therefore have some really flexible hours. It helps that my boss is one of my dearest friends who loves our baby so much so she is great about letting me take days when I feel like I haven't had enough time with Evangeline. DH works from home three days a week and mostly keeps her with him so it really is a good set up.

We co-slept until three weeks ago, I nursed until six months and that was a stretch as I have really low supply. I worked so hard on getting it back up but it was never enough to sustain her. We babywear and have a delayed vax schedule we are working on with our pediatrician. Dr. Sears and Dr. Karp really helped us out as new parents to a high-needs, GERD baby. Out of a scale of 10 I'd say we are a six on the crunch scale. We work hard though to get higher.

We share our home with three greyhounds and two unbelievably furry cats--all adored and all being super patient about taking a back seat to the baby.

We are desperate to make baby food BUT for some reason I am having a hard time finding great recipes. So, please share your secrets

Hello everyone! I'm Darci (28) and my husband is Corey (30). We have 3 daughters (2003, 2004, 2006), and a son (2008). I am a SAHM and a birth doula and childbirth educator. We homeschool, raise chickens, and grow/can most of our own produce... we have a 1/2 acre 'garden' over the summer months and just replanted some winter squash and all kinds of greens for our fall harvest. We don't vaccinate, breastfeed till self-weaning, co-sleep for at least the first year, babywear (my DH and I both) make our own babyfood, have natural births (as far as is possible--last babe was an induction due to pre-e). I think that is all my "crunchy creds".
We were taken by surprise by this new bean. We won't be telling anyone IRL for a while due to a previous loss (nothing worse than having to un-tell) and also due to the fact that our immediate families think we have too many children already. Not ready to face that kind of negative energy right now!
Nice to get to 'know' you gals!

I'm so sorry. Same thing time-wise happened to me, dd was stillborn and 4 months later I was pregnant with ds.

I don't mind being a backup if you need someone (plus I can add questions when the thread lags a bit ). I did it for my last DDC too. Loads of fun!

I'm lazy. I always just mushed up whatever we were eating or gave him tiny pieces of it. Hopefully someone will have some good ones for you!

I'm sorry your family isn't more understanding. That always bugs me when people are negative about the joy of bringing a child into the world. If you aren't the mama or papa (thus have no say in the matter), it should ALWAYS be a celebration with no bad comments.

Hi mamas!
I am so honored to be a part of this group & to get to know and support you all.:
I'm Viv (38) and live with my DH Matt (35) in LA with our two kitties and our 10 month old son.
I joined MDC March 2008 when I found out I was pregnant and loved my Oct08 ddc. If you look at the archives, you can see we were the most chatty of them all. :
We still have a FB group we all post daily to and we did a bead swap for a labor necklace that I treasure.

I still am nursing though he is eating plenty of solids, was co sleeping until 2 months ago...now he is next to my bed in a crib (we are still in a one bedroom until we buy a house hopefully this year).
We cloth diaper and use wool exclusively. I am such a fan. He has never had a diaper rash and since he was 4 months old, he goes #2 on the toilet.
I credit cloth diapering for his awareness of eliminations.
Mostly eat organics, try to make baby food or give him jarred organics or part of our dinner.
Going for a vbac as I was doing a hypnobirth with midwifes and baby required a c section after hour 30 when his heartbeat went away then came back at only 60 bpm.

So very excited to have another baby and add another member to our little family.
I am only about 75% crunchy. We do vax- no judgments on those who don't- and I am really into wrapping, have a little stash going but we also love our Uppababy Vista stroller.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and to acknowledge the mamas who have suffered losses before.
Off to catch some zzz's now!

It's settled then! I'll start a thread this weekend and have everyone sign up that wants to participate. Apecaut will keep an eye on it too in case I'm slacking! Everyone can ask questions of course.

I'm Dee and I know a few of the mamas here. I know Fiberlover from the TTC #1 in our 30s, I remember Tenk from TTC 6+ months, and I know brooklyn_warbler from the Nov07 DDC. She and I had our DDs 1 day apart in Nov07 and now we're due 1 day apart in May10!

I'm 34 and have one 21mo DD. I am a WOHM teaching college while my DH is a SAHD. I'm medium crunchy, half-baked maybe? I used cloth diapers for about a year while ECing, coslept in various ways for 1.5 years, don't vax (yet) and struggle with eating well since DD has food intolerances. I like babywearing but I am jealous of Viv's Uppababy Vista!
