Beco Butterfly II and shoulder issues

Mamas, I'm still trying to resolve my babywearing dilemma, especially with DD being so heavy (26 lbs) and with winter being right around the corner. I've tried using my friend's Ergo for a few weeks and found it comfortable, though eventually I had pain in between my shoulder blades. The body of the carrier is short, so DD can ride with her arms out but then again, she likes to LEEEEAAAN out, which is dangerous and worrisome.

A few days ago, I switched back to my Beco Butterfly II, to see the difference, and almost immediately, I noticed that the straps don't hit my shoulders where they should. They end up sitting on the shoulder joint instead of right between the joint and the neck. Eventually, I get a lot of pain. I've tried fiddling with the chest strap, the shoulder straps, and the waist strap...but to no avail.

I'm wondering if a) I'm not adjusting it properly or b) if the Beco just isn't made for someone with rather narrow shoulders.

Anyone have experience with this?

I've got the Beco and my dd is also very heavy. I don't know if it's just because I'm carrying her more lately but my back and shoulders get very sore from it too. I'm pretty sure it is adjusted properly!
