four catches with my 5-day old boy!

I just had to share...
I'm a new mom, our son just born on Sunday ( home waterbirth, yay!)
And my husband and I started making cueing noises with him right away, and changing every time he pees or poops... then this morning when ds and I woke up, I decided to start trying to hold him over a potty. I made the cueing noise...and he peed! So I held him over a potty everytime he woke up from napping today- and caught pees AND poops 3 more times today! :
I am so excited - I really thought it would be much longer until I was catching anything- and thanks to all who post on this forum for all the encouragement and advice ( I've been reading posts for a few weeks now)

Yay!!! That's exactly when we started (well at 4 days -- we had a lotus birth). Now at 3 months she only rarely wears a diaper when we go out if I'm worried about having an opportunity to potty her in time, but she cues 99.9% of the time.

You're off to a great start, and I'm sure you will have much success...it's so nice to be that connected and in tune with your little one.

Wow, congratulations on your successes. I'm amazed at people with the wherewithal and gumption to EC their first baby.

I'm inspired by the out of diapers 3 mo. That's where we are - and I know she could do it, but I'm chicken. And this is my second ED'ed child.

I'm so jealous. This is my second EC'd baby and I just find it so hard to get catches and what that means is I'm not spending time on her. I love her so much, she's so sweet, but my pre-schooler just... has my hands.

Your post has me thinking that I need to give this second baby more time, because she loves going on the potty.

thanks for all the encouragement everyone! it must have been a little bit of beginner's luck though, because in the past few days we've offering the potty and getting pees and poops in the diaper minutes afterward... it certainly is a process, isn't it!
i can't wait until the pooping becomes a little less frequent ( he's now 2 weeks old, pooping many times a day) - i imagine it will get a bit easier then...
