No Period off BCP 5 days

I am currently nursing my 16 month old and have not had PPAF. My Dr. gave me Combination BCP to try and induce a withdrawal bleed. I stopped the pills on Sunday and Friday (5 days later) no bleed. Any ideas or experience?

TIA

Sorry, I don't have experience with this, but just wondering why doc is in a hurry to bring on AF? It is quite common for nursing mothers to go this long (and much longer) without cycling. Unless there are other medical conditions, it may be best to let your body do the deciding.

As I reread my post I just wanted to add I hope you don't think I am being preachy or rude, that's totally not how I am meaning to come off. I just wonder if there is actually a reason, or if the doc is misinformed. Because so few women nurse past infancy, especially in the mainstream world, there is a huge amount of misinformation circulating, even in the medical field. Maybe your doc doesn't understand breastfeeding amenorrhea and thinks he needs to "fix" it?

Carolyn, thanks for replying. It is actually me not my Dr trying to bring things on. I previously had surgery for Asherman's on my uterus, and due to retained placenta may have to have surgery again. To find out I need to have a SHG (test) and it can't be done unbless there is enough Estrogen, thus the BCP. Ashermans is scar tissue in the uterus and cause you to cycle but possibly not bleed, as there is no exit, so you bleed internally, causing Endo. All in all really bad for TTC. It takes at least 3 months to heal from surgery and a couple months to book it and all the while can't TTC. So I am anxious to find out either way.

I do know that it can take longer. Actively involved in my local LLL. Just nervous and anxious as I will be 38 in a month.

That makes so much more sense. I really wish you the best of luck...that sounds insanely frustrating to want to have another baby but to have to jump through so many hoops first. I hope you find the information you need, and sorry I couldn't be more help. Is it possible that the Asherman's itself is causing the lack of withdrawal bleeding? (If it is blocked and can't get out?)

Again, so sorry you're having to deal with this, and I hope things get straightened out soon for you.

Thanks Carolyn!

Yep, exactly right, I may not appear to be cycling if the Asherman's came back, no flow. They did try to do the test earlier, but because of low Estrogen from BF, couldn't get the catheter thru the cervix to do the test. At least now they should be able to do the test. Will find out on Tuesday.

Definatly frustrating. I have been having AF like cramps since he was 10 months, ugh!!

You'll be in my thoughts and prayers...hope the news is good, or at least gives you a definitive course of action.
