MMR Shot and swelling - possibly arthritis?

My mother-in-law recently entered nursing school and she got an MMR shot and about 10 days later, her ankles and wrists were so painfully swollen, that she could barely walk and she couldn’t work. She drew the connection to the vaccine on her own because it was the only thing that was different. She went to the doctor to show him what had happened and the doctor didn’t think it was the vaccine so he ordered all kinds of blood tests to rule out it being rheumatoid arthritis, etc. This was just a couple days ago. She asked the doctor to give her Prenisone for the swelling, but he refused to give it to her until her test results came in, and instead she had to take OTC anti-inflammatories. The next day she said that she wasn’t any worse, but that was probably just the effects of the drugs.

I’m just posting to tell what happened and to see if anyone has any insights on what exactly is going on in her body with all the swelling? Of course me and my husband are against vaccines and have told her not to get any, and her reply was that she had to because she’s in nursing school. I told her about exemptions, but apparently she’s not against vaccines enough to use them.

My friend was telling me that the swelling from the MMR shot is probably arthritis and that the vaccine probably just triggered more of an inflammatory response. I didn’t think she had arthritis though, but apparently vaccines cause arthritis.

This is listed on the actual package insert of the vax under adverse events in the clinical studies:

"Arthritis and/or arthralgia (usually transient and rarely chronic [see below]), musculoskeletal pain,
myalgia, pain of the hip, leg, or neck, swelling."

Towards the bottom of page 9.

Rheumatiod (sp) arthritis is an auto immune disease so it can be caused by vaccination. Swelling/edema is the body trying to protect itself, obviously from the vaccine.

I bet it's from the vaccine. Tell her to read the insert paper of the vaccine to the doctor.

If I were in her situation I would take Chlorella in pretty big amounts (not enough to cause diarrhea though).

This anecdote is is no way meant as a potential diagnosis, but I'd like to share this:

A young relative of mine had his first MMR in January. At the time, everyone but him in the house (parents and one brother) were sick with strep-like symptoms. A few weeks after the shot, he started to get swelling in his ankles/wrists, accompanied by a purplish rash. That went on for a few months. By May, he was having difficulty walking. His peds had no idea what it was. Ultimately he ended up in the ICU because his lungs were hemorraghing.

The diagnosis took another two months after steroid/chemo treatment stabilized him: a rare disease called microscopic polyangiitis. From what I understand, it falls into the arthritis spectrum somewhere. Little research has been done on the disease. He is currently in remission, but is monitored in case signs of the illness return.

Ultimately, no doctor involved in his treatment would entertain the possibility that the vaccine caused his illness. At best, they called it a "strange coincidence." To this day, they insist that it was caused by the virus that his family had. FWIW, I don't agree, although I do wonder if fighting the virus taxed his immune system and then the vaccine pushed it over the edge.

What would the chlorella do? This is a whole other topic, but just from my experience: I was taking large amounts of chlorella for a few weeks, this was a few months ago, and then I stopped taking them abruptly, and then I ended up with vertigo-like symptoms for 4 days. I was doing it to try to chelate mercury from amalgams that I used to have, but then I changed my mind about using it as a chelator, and also because I'm still breastfeeing (although my dentist who had recommended it, assured me that it was ok to do while breastfeeding).

Rheumatoid arthritis is a tabled vaccine injury, connected to the MMR.

Thanks, I'll send this to her. I just remembered that I was telling her that she should report this to VAERS and try to get compensation for this, since she has had to lose money from not being able to work due to her swelling being so severe. She is an esthetician (does facials at a spa) so the swelling in her wrists especially have made it impossible for her to work.

Good luck with VAERS- my daughter had anaphylaxis to vaccine in the doc.'s office and we spent the rest of the day in the hospital- I thought maybe they could cover the hospital, ambulance ride, SOMETHING..... We had no long term damage or death so they didn't care- you do have possible long term though so maybe.......

Not surprised at all.
