how to make squeak/rattle toys?

I've recently begun to make amigurumi toys for the kids, and I'd like to make some rattles for the baby. I've asked at a Joanns & a Michaels, and the only thing they have is bells. Where can I find squeaks or rattles or make them or something?

Has to be washable - I was thinking about beans, but that wouldn't work

The problem with squeakers is that they have a valve which causes the "squeak" unfortunately I havent come across one that is washable in that over time water/humidity wouldnt break down the "squeak" making it non squeaky. However, depending on how long you want to be able to have it squeak and how often you actually do wash it it could last quite a while.

You could put a tiny zipper on your toy so you could take the squeaker out for washing.
