lump in breast-- ultrasound

I wanted to see if anyone else has had a suspicious lump in their breast tissue that sounded like mine. I have had many plugged ducts, but they don't feel like this. I have a pea size lump in my deep cleavage area that is hard and seems to be attached to the skin underneath. It does not appear to be a pimple as you can't see anything from the outside, and it doesn't hurt. It's much smaller than my plugged ducts and those don't feel as if it's attached to the skin.

My midwife is sending me for a breast ultrasound. What else could it be? I read up on benign cysts and it didn't sound like any of those types.

I don't know for sure either but, as someone who has had many, many lumps checked via ultrasound and mammogram, I just wanted to send you some hugs and positive vibes. I know it can be nerve wracking.

The overwhelming majority of breast lumps are benign but, it's good that you're getting it checked out.

Thinking about you!

thank you! The ultrasound isn't until the 18th, so I'll try not to think about it until then!

Are you breastfeeding? If so, it could be a galactocele. I have one in my right breast about the size of a large marble. I got it within a month or so of breastfeeding and it has been with me for over a 1.5 years now. (still breastfeeding). Galactoceles are benign and go away when you stop nursing. They are cause by a protein plug in a particular milk duct. There is no risk of infection b/c nothing can reach the sterile milk. I had an u/s to diagnose mine. Then a doctor ignorantly tried to aspirate it. This is absolutely pointless b/c the milk will just fills up again by the next day. The protein plug is almost impossible to remove. Trying to remove it only threatens to introduce bacteria so it is more risky than just leaving it alone. So here I am going on 2 years with my little galactocele and suffering no ill-effects.

I have a large (to me anyway!) lump in my left breast that I got an ultrasound done on this last week. The radiologist said he didn't see *anything* and that I'm all good, but I'm going to ask for a 2nd opinion from a breast surgeon, just in case. The ultrasound itself was fast and easy. Took about 15ish minutes and all the techs were women. She was very nice and kept as much of my breast covered as possible.

Hi, that sounds like something I've just discovered. Your post is a few months old... was curious if you have an update. Still got it? Still nursing? Have you seen anyone else about it? Thanks!

From experience I would urge anyone who has a lump to see a breast surgeon. I had a lump that could be felt easily but did not show on mammo or ultrasound. I was told it 'must be nothing'.....I had breast cancer. Hoping yours is benign!
