France is using swine flu to change laws---very, very scary!!
Wow, that is pretty drastic. I don't like that one bit.

I was reading the closed thread about the dr. pushing the flu vax at a check up. My daughter has low muscle tone, which is nerurological.
I read on that thread and others that the swine flu is deadly to those with neuro problems. Do we know why? I know nothing about the science behind that and am just wondering why that is. It freaks me out pretty bad thinking about that in particular.
Thanks!

I am going to guess that it is because of the lungs. From what I have read the majority of deaths from this have been from pneumonia or breathing difficulties. Dont those with low muscle tone have more potential issues with their lungs in general?

I have heard that it is because they can't have a productive enough cough to get the junk out of the lungs and cough it up. Then pneumonia, secondary bacterial infections set in...

I'd ask the doctor though, for more specifics regarding your dd.

I had yucky influenza last March that was 'really stuck in my lungs' it was a pain & very uncomfy feeling . The year before the doctor said i was almost with pnemonia .

But that was yucky coughs I get all the time with a fever or no fever .

It's a pain!

But i felt worse with a fever, sore throat, vomiting & diherea because it was really making my thyroid levels go out of whack!

I just wonder if that time when brendan was made to swallow that frog did we end up with swine flu before it was even noticed ???? Don't regular tummy bugs last 24 -48 hrs ? I had this way longer than that .

I am a bit worried right now as a perfectly healthy boy according to the news just died with h1n1 near me Full autopsy results wont be available for 60 day but initial results show nothing out of the ordinary. He was 5yo.

ETA: Just found this here:
Whenever I hear about perfectly healthy kids/adults whomever dying from swine flu, I have to think HOW were they treated?? I really think that many many times, allopathic treatments do more harm than good in certain situations.

Was this child treated with Tylenol? I bet you 100 bucks he/she was dosed up with a fever reducer. I believe this can do a great deal of damage. Who knows what other pharmaceticals were pumped into this child....steriods perhaps? I think back to Mr. Weiner...the first man to die of swine flu in NYC (the principal) and read that the day before he died, he was treated with some kind of exeprimental blood treatment. The experimental treatment was the use of a new device called a Hemo-Modulator, which exposes the blood to UV light to (hopefully) kill viruses.

Mitchell Wiener, 55, remained on a ventilator one day after the number of flu-related school closings climbed to six and student absences soared in some sections of Queens. He was being treated with an experimental blood therapy.

This is a very good point. I also have to wonder what the definition of "otherwise healthy" is, too. If I eat nothing but corndogs and french fries and never exercise but don't have any "healthy problems" am I "otherwise healthy"? I suppose... but my body probably doesn't have a lot of resources to fight with, kwim?

Didn't I read something about recent ABX use being linked to the death rate somehow. Or was that just a theory? Anyone come across something about this?

Yikes

Just learned through our WAPF chapter list, that NY is now suspending all exemptions for Health Care Workers, when it comes to both flu shots:

I looked but was unable to find the information that this h1n1 vax is the same as the other flu vax.

what....that is CRAZY! I just sent this to one of my pregnant friends. How horrible. Just another reason...

Really? I'll be shocked if my mom and her husband get it. they're pretty adamant about not... but they're a dental hygienist and a physical therapist... wonder if they're not on the list of required ones?

Neighbors had the H1N1..and said it rocked

Just wanted to post that my neighbors had the "swine flu" last weekend....and said it was MUCH better than having regular influenza! I know its just their experience..so its relative..but it sounds like good news to me. Of course none of them have other diseases going on...so they had health to begin with. I was just happy to hear this...on a first hand...not from a news source kinda way. Im almost hoping we get it this year and get it over with. Scary with an infant in the mix (5 months)...but I am breastfeeding exclusively...so she prolly wouldnt get it.

Much love!

We had the same experience. We could tell for sure we had it, but it was more in par with being pinched, rather then punched.
The only thing that has been a pain, is I always develop a post nasal drip when I do get sick ( which is like almost never now) which gives me a ticklish cough. Other then that, life is good!

Hmmm,,,what would make you think it's not? Many of Dr. Mercola's articles are referenced on MDC.

Thought this was interesting, especially for those who are still panicking over the "deadly" aspect of swine flu. I wish they would show pregnant women who have gotten (and recovered from) this flu on mainstream tv, in addition, to those who have died. Same for children too, but of course they probably don't have time to interview all those people! Still, a few would help.

Quote:
That would follow a pattern seen in past pandemics, when a new flu virus spreads widely, eventually replacing older viruses that have circulated for years...

It's a scenario some infectious-disease experts would welcome. Even though the new H1N1 flu is likely to infect large numbers of people, it causes relatively mild disease in the vast majority, ... "If we have to have influenza, I would clearly choose novel H1N1," ...

"It's mild -- the seasonal flu lasts 10 to 14 days, and this is lasting three to five days," ... "There's not as much chest pain or coughing" as with seasonal flu, he said.

Just because someone is referenced on MDC a lot doesn't make it legit. There are a lot of people here who really abide by what Mercola says, and a lot who think he's a quack. (I'm in the halfway camp, by the way... I read what he has to say, and then look for corroborating info elsewhere...)
