My 2.5 year old son is having major latch issues. he will not open wide enough, and ends up just sucking on my nipple. I try getting him to open wide, but he just says "ah" and sits there with his mouth hardly open. When he is latched on, he cheeks are sunken in like he's whistling. Even if he does open wide enough, and I manage to mash enough of my boob in his mouth, he cries and says it hurts and ends up just on my nipple again.
I'm 35(6?) weeks pregnant and have not had milk for the past 6 months. I've also had hyperemesis, and he has nursed quite a bit less only 1-2 times per day, usually at nap and bed. It's very painful to nurse him, and most times I either suck it up for a few minutes to get him to sleep, or if DH is here he takes over. Tonight, DH was gone, and I couldn't take it, so he just fell asleep crying in my arms (he was beyond exhausted, had no nap and spent the day at the pool).
I don't want to wean him. I've just really weaned my almost 5 year old for latch issues too... she was down to a few times a week and I think has truly forgotten how to nurse. I feel like I can't wean him before that, yk? Although I'd love to not tandem nurse again.
Any ideas?
