Applied henna, now some of my hair is red and some is not.

Should I make another batch and apply the henna only to the parts of my hair that are still brownish, or apply everywhere (more evenly). If I apply it everywhere, will the already red parts get brighter?

The parts that are red will get darker red. At least it will all be red. The neon brightness should fade down after 4-5 days.

How long does henna typically last in the hair, and how does it compare cost-wise to commercial hair dye?

Henna is permanent.

Body art quality henna is quite pricey, Indian market henna is quite inexpensive.

The only things which have caused my henna to fade somewhat are very frequent swim sessions in chlorinated pools and baking soda no 'poo.
