Cleaning Jacuzzi Tubs

Is there a trick to it? I feel like I'm missing something. I typically just clean out my tub with baking soda and vinegar and take a toothbrush to the jets and scrub vigorously but I don't think that this is cutting it. There is some gunk on the jets that I just cannot get rid of and it really creeps me out. So much so that I NEVER take a bath in the tub and I can't help but wonder what is lurking inside the jets. It gives me the heeby jeebys! (sp?) My ds has outgrown his tub and I want to get to the bottom of this so I can feel better about him taking a bath in the regular tub. Oh, and how I long to take a bath again especially when I go into labor. Any tips?

My old tub had directions that said to use white vinegar and run the jets. Sorry I cannot remember how much and I guess it would depend on the tub size anyway. I would probably fill up to the lowest point needed so the jets can run and then add vinegar.

I've heard of filling the tub and adding bleach and then running the jets.

Dh was surprised how happy I was that our tub doesn't have jets. I knew I wouldn't want to deal with it.

My MiL's manual recommended dishwasher detergent, but it may have specifically excluded the kinds with bleach. I can't remember.

See if you can locate a manual!

Our manual recommends bleach, but I like the vinegar idea better!

Fill the water level just above the jets, add the specified amount of bleach, and turn it on for a full cycle on high. Empty. Then do it again w/plain water to rinse. We don't use it very often and it's such a big tub... I think it's such a waste of water....

We do the vinegar and run the jets thing, too. It cleans them out pretty good.
