Cravings you have had before?

What are you craving now? OR what did you crave your last pregnancy? I love finding out what mamas are going for b/c it's so different.

Last time, during my first trimester, I passionately desired ramen noodles. And this was AFTER not eating ramen for years. It is so freakin' not good for you--but oh so delicious. For about three days it was all I could stand.

Later on, it became french fries

When I was pregnant with my son I craved Taco bell tacos. I normally never eat fast food, but man even thinkning about it today I was like "OooOoh Taco Bell tacos..."
The last one I had was when I was still pregnant with DS and found a long curly black hair in it when I was almost finished with it. ( I have straight brown hair). I haven't eaten there since. :Puke

Oh my gosh that is DISGUSTING! Not the craving, the hair part!

Peaches DO sound delicious as do grape tomatoes--much healthier cravings than french fries for sure.

Mmm, enigo, I was thinking I'd love a spicy chicken burrito from Taco Bell last night as I was eating my baked potatoe and ham. LOL My 12 year old thought I should just head out and get one but we're a half hour from a little town with a KFC/Taco Bell and an hour from the city so I suspect my cravings won't get as much attnetion as if I lived close enough to satisfy them more often.

with DD I wanted onions onions onions. It was so weird for me because I HATE ONIONS. I woke up one good day before I even knew I was pregnant and wanted onions on EVERYTHING! I got an in-n-out burger with onions and it wasnt enough. I went home and literally chopped up a whole onion and added it to the burger. It was perfect lol. I stopped craving onions right before I found out I was preg.

with DS I wanted mushrooms night and day for the first 3 months

With this little bean Im not really craving anything yet. as a matter of fact there are times where I have no appetite at all! I hope everything is ok.

With my son, I didn't have any food cravings, but I was always craving gum. I never really chew gum normally, but I went through quite a lot while I was pregnant.

This time I'm pretty hungry, but the thought of most foods makes me sick. I can't get enough meat and cheese, since that is the only thing not nauseating for whatever reason.

With dd I was all about turkey and OJ. That is all I wanted in the first trimester. Oh, and hamburger.

This time, OJ is on the top of my list and red meat!! I must be really needing protien since I crave it. Oh! And anything fruit..tart or citrus!! I just downed strawberry's and a nectarine. YUMMM!! And I have a steak in the oven..hehe

i kind of love this thread!

i didn't have a whole lot of strong cravings last time...not the way that most pregnant women describe them, anyway...nothing overwhelming or like a serious NEED. mostly things just sounded good and then everything tasted better in the second/third trimesters too.

the only time i had REALLY strong cravings last time was just before i found out i was pregnant (so like 10-12dpo). i could not stop eating tacos!! we were out in pennsylvania where i was giving a talk at a conference and i made my husband go to taco bell TWICE in TWO DAYS! and then we got home and i made him get tacos at a local mexican joint. when we walked in, i exclaimed (no joke) "IT SMELLS LIKE TACOS IN HERE!" i was so happy. it is one of my favourite memories from pregnancy last time lol.

and then the horrible morning sickness kicked in, wah. during that time i had very specific aversions and things that i could stomach. the major players that i want to eat (they have been exactly the same both times) were/are subway veggie subs, peanut butter, and cream cheese. also it was hard last time to choke down my morning eggs unless they were paired with something sweet. (i had a real hard time with protein overall unless it was cheese.) this time, i'm doing a better job with the eggs but i keep wanting to make waffles and quick breads. last time i also wanted pineapple a lot and this time i am really, super into these local "ginger gold" apples that are awesome and juicy and tart.

in the second tri last time i would say my biggest "craving" was that i ate 1/2 a canteloupe every morning (it was during the summer!) and a whole bunch of fruit overall. but other than that, no real cravings.

it's funny though b/c i am normally more of a veggie eater than a fruit lover. in between pregnancies i went back to that, and now i'm back on fruit again. wonder if this little sprout will be a lot like his/her sister, who lovvvvvvvvvvves fruit?

With my daughter, I craved soup and juicy juicy fruits. My fruit had to be very juicy and very crispy/crunchy. So - grapes and apples? had to have a certain crunch quotient to even be considered. I would eat myself sick on grapes. Oy.

This time I haven't hit any real cravings yet. I wanted Mexican rice with lots of fresh mild salsa tonight. Reminded me of the juicy food craving.

I craved starch like mad with my first pregnancy. Also big salads with lots of goodies. In the last tri I wanted Taco Bell ALL THE TIME. LOL And Spicy food.

So far, no cravings but I'm only 5 weeks. We'll see!

My biggest craving, though I haven't had it yet with this pregnancy, is fries and gravy - even better is poutine.

With DD1 I craved corn on the cob.

I refuse to eat at Taco Bell. I begged DH to eat there with me when we were first married even though he told me that he had gotten food poisoning there. We were alright for our first few visits then, sure enough - food poisoning.

I have the same thing going on. I'm so queasy that I don't want to eat anything. Some people never get cravings though so no worries mama!!

With DS I craved crab...it didn't matter artificial or real, legs or claws, I would eat it by the truckload!! DH told me we may never go back to Red Lobster again after all that

So far nothing really stands out. I was addicted to turkey sandwiches for a while there, with big, garlicky pickles, but that seems to have gone away. Could be the morning sickness though. Pistachios are another winner...when I can keep 'em down

I have already started craving miso soup. I think it's the salt that I want! I don't have much of an appetite otherwise. Ugh, the thought of most food right now turns my stomach LOL. (I have to admit that I am just glad that least toothpaste is still on my okay list )

wanted to update that im particularly partial to sweets right now. wanting chocolate and sugary things... I dont think its cravings just yet but I def like them.

Hmm...I'm not craving anything yet. And I have to admit, I didn't have much in the way of cravings with DS. More aversions than cravings, actually.

But I do recall one night having a major craving for french fries. We live next door to a McDonalds, were we never (seriously, never) eat. Still, I wanted those fries, dangit, so DH walked over. It was closed, but the drive-thru was open, so he walked up to the window, where they refused to serve him because he was walking instead of driving!: A similar storyline later appeared on Curb Your Enthusiasm, heh.

Susan, that's awesome. I once tried to go through a drive-through on rollerblades!

Last pregnancy, I wanted "white" foods (tortillas, mayonnaise, Ranch dressing, etc.) and breakfast at all hours of the day (could not get enough waffles, pancakes, hash browns).

So far I don't crave anything in particular other than veggie tom ka gai soup. (I shouldn't have even typed that... now I want it!)

With my first I would take whole wheat bread slather yellow mustard on it, and then add a cheese slice and a HUGE pile of spinach. I wasn't vegan then so it was actual american cheese. Funnily enough, I was a total meat eater when pg with my first and yet I started craving soy sausages and soy corn dogs and soy burgers. After my son was born I went ahead and went all the way vegan.

With my last two pg I craved tofu, nutritional yeast, slightly healthier soy sausages...can't remember what else. But tofu was huge. I would have eaten a whole block every night if I let myself. Tofu scrambled with bragg's and nutritional yeast...yum.

This time around I'm coming off of being an almost total raw foodist, so just eating cooked food feels very special. I have to really watch that I don't overdo eating something just because I haven't had it so long. But no real cravings yet, other than nutritional yeast. I learned how to make vegan cheesy sauce and I could eat it out of the pan with a spoon. :

I think because I tend to eat low protein when not pregnant (not on purpose, I just eat what makes me feel the best), my pregnancy cravings are naturally going to be vegan protein sources. I'm probably not getting as much protein as many people get, but it feels like SO MUCH to me. But I just go with it...it's all stuff I enjoy and rarely get (I don't tend to eat soy or beans when not pg).

It's also probably why I gain 50lb during each pg.
