Can anyone direct me to how to make Mal's cavalry pants and bowncoat coat in a baby size? I'm taking Mal to a sci-fi convention and would like to see him go as his namesake.

Shiny! I'd love to see pics too. I was thinking of making a coat for DH a couple years ago. There's a book called The Firefly Companion or something that had the coat laid out flat. It was all rectangles.

For pants for a baby I think you could get away with buying dark pants and sewing a ribbon on the outside seam.

The cuteness factor gives you a lot of wiggle room.

OK It's been forever but here's what it is so far: I spent all day yesterday taking the production photos of the coat apart in my head and drawing them out on printer paper. The paper version of the coat is hanging up on my enterainment center. I will sew and take pictures this weekend. The pants are just some pants I bought at the Evil Empire and will sew ribbon on when I'm sewing up the coat.

That would be really neat to see! I've seen copies of the browncoat for adults on Etsy.com but a baby one would be really cute!
