Overnight without Baby; How often to Pump?

In a couple weeks, I have a business trip where I will be away from my baby (who will be 15 weeks then). I am able to take the baby for 1 day, but he will be with my mother for a day + overnight. I am completely ok with this, and in my own opinion, this will not cause permanent trauma to him.

Currently, he takes a bottle of pumped milk one day out of the week when my mother watches him for 8-10 hours (I own a business and he's with me most of the time, but I need this time without baby in tow to keep things running smoothly. He has never, ever had a problem from switching between bottle and breast. We never had issues with nursing.

I am planning to pump about every 3 hours when away from him during the day. What about the night??? Currenly, his night nursing is very random. The other night, he went down at 8pm and didn't wake to nurse until close to 5am. But other nights he will latch on several times. I normally start him off sleeping in his bassinet in the pack-n-play, where he usually sleeps for a couple to several hours. Then I get him upon his first waking and take him to bed for the rest of the night. He usually nurses a few times close to early morning. But they are very short nurses (a couple minutes at most).

How often should I pump at night? Do I set my alarm to wake myself up????

Did you wake up engorged the morning your son slept through the night? Are you prone to plugged ducts or anything?

I personally wouldn't pump overnight-but be sure you have enough time in the morning to fully empty.

Totally agree with the above post. I would do a good session right before bed and early in the morning.

I wouldn't want to go longer then 6 hours, but enjoy the sleep while you can.

I woke up somewhat engorged. Just a little leaking. I'm not prone to plugged ducts.

I'd still be setting the alram for 5 hours into my sleep, after pumping well just before going to bed. And pumping ASAP upon waking.

It'll suck, but it's better than risking your supply. 15 weeks is still very, very young.
