New EC mom

Hello from mom of 6

The 2 1/2 yr old is just now learning from our baby (5 weeks) how to "pee" herself. Any tips for the newborn?
This is all new, just read "the diaper free baby" book. We take the newborn to pee whenever she wakes up, she goes 95% of the time. Have figured out some of the poops & had some great messes in public bathrooms (transferring from stroller to sink or toilet), good laughs!
Need help or ideas or someone to teach me:
- to be diaperless during day
- how and what to wear to stay warm or so others can hold her
- besides "wool" pad etc. under her, are there other options?
Did it for 1 hour one day and found she pees alot! Are sleepers out? I use cloth diapers and this no diaper thing sounds great; but a lot of bigger laundry, right? To start with?
And how much do most of you "wear" your babies? I have a bad neck and shoulders so can't too much and I like her sleeping on her own to set naptime patterns. Any tips for a "fresh" EC mom? I'm still learing and loving it! I was hooked the first time my baby pee'd on cue!
Tips anyone?

P.S. First time using a forum ever, had to get my husband to show me how it worked.

Aaliyah - Welcome to the forum and to the world of EC!!!!
Yes, I think that in the beginning it does make for more messes/laundry depending on how you do things. We started ec w/ 100% cloth diaper back-up which kept the misses off of people and things.
Now dd is in underwear (or naked) full time during the day. We started undies at 7 1/2 months. I use a pre-fold to put under her when she is in the car seat, when others are holding her, or when she is playing independantly at someones house, business, etc. She is mostly reliable with poops right now so for me that is when I was comfortable out and about w/out a diaper. We are doing way less laundry now than when I diapered my other kiddos and Waaaaay less laundry than we were in the beginning of EC.
As far as wearing the baby the ERGO carrier is excellent for those that have a bad back and shoulders. I find that dd misses a lot less when I am wearing her.
I don't know if I answered all of your questions or not but wanted to make sure to welcome you.

I noticed a huge decrease in the frequency of pees around 3 mos. My daughter also stopped peeing in her sleep around then- really truly she does pee/poo when she awakens, not in her deep sleep.

Anyway, I'm pretty new at it, started w/ my 2 1/2 mo who is now just over 4mos, so I don't have a lot of advice for how it works down the road.

She's nakey at home a lot, no diapers. She may wear an unsnapped or just cut-up onsie, but the weather has been so darn hot most of her life. Someone gave us a bunch of "puddle pads" (synthetic but they work great) as hand-me-downs, she lays on them a lot. I think they are supposed to go under a baby's sheet on the crib or something? Def cheaper than a wool pad, though I'd like some of those too, esp for using at night.

Good luck!

I have no advice at all - I'm brand new to EC with ds2, who is 4 wks. Still trying to figure out much of the same things as you. I'm using cloth diapers most of the day as back up right now and change him often.

Just wanted to say welcome and glad you found us!
