just curious... since we've been supplementing, and am now just trying to wean off of the 8oz of formula my boys get daily.

how often does your 7ish month old nurse during the day?

we do 4x from 8am - 8pm, with solids 3x a day. then they'll nurse in between occasionally. i don't even know what happens at night - half of the time i try to put a baby on top of his sleeping brother

just curious what you do!

You know, at 7 months, a baby should really still be getting as much breastmilk as they can take, maybe you need to look at the three meals a day which may not be helping their intake of breastmilk and helping you with supplying their needs, if you really want to get them off the formula and on to the breast then I would really recommend letting them play with their food, take them on a journey of sensory, discovery of textures and tastes and not worry about 'how much' they are getting, for the first year breastmilk should be their main source of nourishment and the solids as I mentioned just tastes and textures, let them get messy, things don't need to be made into purees things like avocado and sweetpotato are great starter foods - a wonderful book is Feeding the Whole Family which may interest you. As for nursing let them nurse whenever they want, follow their cues and let them tell you what they need, they'll let you know.

You may also benefit from the support and information that you can find at a La Leche League meeting, lots of other breastfeeding mothers with nurslings offering mother to mother support is the best thing for a breastfeeding mother. Good luck and congratulations for have the continuing desire to advance in your breastfeeding journey.

Gosh, I never really counted...
Let's see, today we nursed pretty continuously between 6 and 8 am. Then, probably 8 nurses or so throughout the day and evening (some really short, some were serious). Now, he's sleeping and will probably nurse 1 or 2 times overnight (that I'm aware of ).

We offer solids morning and evening (usually) but he doesn't consume a ton.
This morning he had half a banana and half a plum and this evening he ate some mashed potato, another half of a banana, and a bit of watermelon.

The boy loves his milk. We haven't really slowed down much from the newborn days and there are still some days where he wants milk every 2 hours around the clock.

Good luck ditching the formula!

12+nursings in waking hours and no more than once a day solids.
