We have had a few terry fitteds and some prefolds as well as pockets (stuffed with flats) over our 2.5 year diapering career, and they were so gross and hard to get clean and dry. I can't imagine why people keep using them.

Well, I felt like poop was harder to rinse out of flat diapers before putting them in the washing machine--it seemed to cling to the folds. With prefolds I could get pretty much all the poop out with a minishower before even putting them in the pail. And I never had trouble getting them clean and dry, although the drying took longer than with flats, of course. Also, when we were on vacation and I didn't have any other chores to do I thought flat folding was fun, but at home when I have a bunch of other tasks, it was just one other thing to do that wasn't required with prefolds.

I don't mean to sound negative since ease of laundering is a HUGE issue with me that a lot of people seem to overlook--I just want to wash them and dry them and not have to think about it much.
