we swear by kissaluv 0s for the newborn stage. total love!!

after much weeding around, we have a stash of almost all goodmamas for every point past the kl0s. we love those too! we also have about 10 bum genius pockets for things like long car rides and overnights. we find they keep wren driest even though she wakes up dry about 1/2 the time now anyway.

i don't have any newborn wool yet though as we didn't use wool until wren was older. i am looking forward to investigating that this time around!

Me too! Kissaluv 0s are awesome! After that I go for Mother Ease One Size fitteds with Mother Ease Air Flow covers.

Wow, you start building your stash so early!

We used prefolds all the way. I love the simplicity of it. Prowraps and Bummies diaper covers (the ones with the froggies and with flowers). DD is almost potty trained now, so we switched to mostly training pants.

one of the things i love about the gms is i snap out the lining and use those as training pants for wren! we are actually ready for undies during the day as she is also more or less potty learned but i can't find any reasonably priced ones in her size.

We have a super-minimalist and very thrifty stash: prefolds and flats, under my handknit wool. It took us a good week or so at the beginning to get good at folding the prefolds, but now my even my husband can do it in the middle of the night without turning the light on.

Prefolds cost less, wash and dry more easily (no laundry problems!), and have a custom fit every time. I have an assortment of pockets and AIOs and none of them fit well on my chubby-thigh, narrow-waist toddler. I love the flats even more, but my husband doesn't, so we have both.

The Newborn size prefolds are now serving double-duty as doublers inside Regular sized prefolds. We started needing the extra absorbency around 19 months. So, less than $100 (plus wool money) to diaper from birth to 20 months. More importantly, I don't have to buy and sell all the time to get the right size and fit. I loathe shopping.

My only regret is that pockets and fitteds come in reeeeeeally cute prints. I buy nice wool to console myself.

1st dd we tried several things, but landed on fuzzi buns being our fav. Seemed to be the trend amoungst mamas I knew too. They all like those the best after trying many. With dd2 I bought a few kissaluvs, but they were too snug on her legs and they'd turn purple. lol She was too rolly polly for them. So back to FB's we went. However, they were my first attempt, so I got kissaluvs again for my son last year, but sadly, never got to use them. So now I have a bunch of kissaluvs, along with several homemade ones that a friends gave me for me sin (who makes them for a living) to try out this time. but I'm sure I'll get FB's again for when we're out and as the baby is older.

I feel like I shouldn't dare get into that box though as though it'd be a bad omen and I'd surely miscarry. I know! Horrible...but I'll be much more commited to this little one once about 8 weeks passes.

Oh - I forgot to add... with my first cd'd baby I bought my diapers new off the net somewhere, and after that I got them used any way I could. Ebay, swap shops, friends, etc.

We're super cheap, lol, and use good old pre-folds. I have a few different brands of covers to put over them. Mostly Bummis and Thirsties covers. I look around for sales on covers and buy them then. I had 3 kids in diapers all at the same time and let me tell it saved us soooo much money. Good luck!

I like fitteds with snaps for daytime use. I rarely use a cover during the day so the fitteds are good for that. I really can't stand velcro. My favourites have been muttaqins but I'm planning on making my own this time around. I have a ton of t-shirts that I want to make into diapers instead of just discarding them. I also just got some snap pliers and snaps that I'm eager to try out.

For night-time, I prefer a prefold with a cover. I'm a bit of a prefold flunkie if it doesn't have a cover to keep it in place.

With DD, we used mostly pockets & AIOs. I saved them all so we're pretty much set. We didn't CD her as a newborn though, so I will need to get some Kissaluv 0s, prefolds & snappis, and Bummis covers in that size.

We did a diaper service for the 1st 4 months (cotton prefolds delivered weekly) with our son and this worked very well so we plan to do it again.
With NBs they just pee and poop so much, it would be exhausting to imagine dealing with all that.
We use wool covers exclusively from the very beginning. I am a huge wool fan if anyone wants to know more, let me talk your ear off.
Our son has never had a diaper rash ever and he has been pooping on the toilet since he was 4 months old too. I credit the cloth for that awareness of his eliminations.

After 4 months, we bought our own prefolds along with beginning to collect our own Goodmama organic bamboo velour fitted diaper stash.
We still use these both in our rotation.
What works for us is using a hemp stay dry doubler in the diaper for overnight and for when out and about. Between this and our wool soaker covers, we haven't had any scary blow outs.

We get our prefolds, doublers and some wool at Green Mountain Diapers, the goodmamas from Goodmama's site as well as at Diaper Swappers and Spots along with their super doublers.
Our wool covers come from Danish Wool and from Kozy.

Our rule of thumb as to what works for us is no synthetics/PUL, no aplix (velcro).
We just like keeping it natural with all cotton, bamboo, hemp and wool.

I have so much to learn

Which ones are the easiest and cutest?
Cutest is in the eye of the beholder

We used prefolds and kissaluvs0 on our baby girl for the first couple of months. I love both of those options particularly since a newborn goes through so many!

We still use prefolds at home and overnight with wool covers but during the day we have a variety of all-in-ones for the sitter to use more conveniently. We have bumgenius, fuzzibuns, and mother's touch. I really love the fuzzinbuns; they are my favorite. BG are ok but the velcro can be tricky to keep good and sticky.

We use thirstees covers and have a few of their pocket diapers, too, for under the covers.

A lot will depend on your baby so I would buy sparingly in the beginning to see how they react to different types. We can't us any artificial fibers at night during the summer b/c of a nasty rash Evangeline develops. She also does not like the thirstees pocket dipes b/c she felt overly wet and uncomfortable in them.

We will be using prefolds with Bummis and wool covers. We used that system along with Bum Genius for DS#2, but the BGs have not held up well enough to use for this baby. If I were just starting out I really believe prefolds and covers are the way to go. They are much cheaper and have held up beautifully. The BGs were expensive and only held up for the one baby. The prefolds also fit much better from the beginning and all the way through...my DS is 2 1/2. This time I will be making some more wool covers....I have accidentally shrunk some . I will probably try to make a few other covers as well. Good luck to all those mamas deciding what to do! It is fun to look at all the really cool diapers out there! :

natural clothing company

I am planning on using these:
http://www.naturalclothing.co.uk/cat...20nappies.html

and knitting/lanolising my own woolen nappy covers and longies to go over them. They are super cute, and have had a few really great ratings in UK magazines.

We used BG 3.0 for Ds. We love them. We don't dry our covers, so they have held up well. We did use disposables until he was able to fit into the BG. This time we are planning on using PF until the baby can fit into BG.

My dream stash is completely BG organics with snaps. I've only used them on the largest rise though. Has anyone used them on smaller babies? Is the soaker a pain? Of course they're $25 apiece new so I'm just dreaming, lol!

Wow! this is so much information. :

When we decided to cloth diaper a few years ago, I didn't realize I would have so many choices! It's great to get all these recommendations though. I do have one thing decided, we have a diaper service in our area, and I definitely plan on using it for at least the first few months.

My mom did the work for me. I love using prefolds. So super easy to use and wash. I do like the kissaluvs. Very comfortable for baby and has that allin one option. We use prowraps with the prefolds. But I just started knitting and am hooked. I looking for some wool thread so I can knit some cute pants/covers.
