Is doing sit ups ok?

I know that sounds silly, but really, I'm wondering. i know exercise is fine and I go to the gym and get on the precor machine for cardio, and then do some leg and arm machines, but I wasn't sure about sit-ups. The exercises videos I've ever seen had the pg ladies not do them, but then again, they were quite far along. I was really hoping to get rid of this belly flap prior to getting pg again, but it's been hard to shake.

I've been doing planks and other strengthening ab moves without sit ups.
I know what you mean, I had been trying to be a little careful about ab moves since we had been trying for a year. I didn't want to mess anything up in there during the TWW.

They are fine until later when you shouldn't be laying on your back... ie the 3rd tri.
Otherwise as long as it feels ok you should be fine..

it's okay, but if your belly flap is from previous pregnancies it's probably your transverse that need strengthening, and traditional sit ups will likely just pull them further apart! :

It's great to do all kinds of abdominal strengthening, but as the previous poster mentioned, the issue is that once your uterus is big enough to pop up out of the pelvis into your abdomen, lying on your back allows it to compress venous return to your heart. So find ab exercises that are done while sitting, standing, or lying on your side. Bellydance or salsa are great - but not too much shimmying in your third tri!
