Shampoo Bars

I"m looking at buying a few of the shampoo bars from Chagrin Valley Soaps (which is exciting as it's local to me!). But, I don't have the best success with a regular cider/vinegar rinse (now granted, I'd use this after BS wash or an occasional Ivory wash, when I use the rinse occasionally, it works ok). If you use shampoo bars, do you find you need to use a cider rinse regularly? Can I get by with it only occasionally?

I started using CV shampoo bars about two months ago and I have to use an acidic rinse after each wash. I did no poo for a while beforehand and really didn't have a lot of luck with vinegars or lemon juice but have had awesome results with a pinch of citric acid diluted in a pitcher of water. We have moderately hard water and without the rinse my hair is a tangly mess. The CV bar and citric acid rinse combo have made my hair so unbelievable...shiny, smooth, soft, swingy :::

I always had to use a vinegar rinse after using CV shampoo bars. I now buy shampoo bars from a local lady and I don't ever have to use them.

I've always had to use a rinse daily, due to hard water conditions. I prefer citric acid to vinegar though.

it really is best to use an acid rinse of some sort after using soap on your hair, which is what shampoo bars are. the funky feeling you expeience after using a 'poo bar is due to the high pH of the bar. it causes the cuticles of your hair to "wig out" and stand on end. by using an acid rinse following the 'poo bar, you are decreasing the pH of your hair back to a natural state which lays down the cuticles.
