Help me decide

My son is 21 months old and hasn't been for a "well baby" exam since 9 months. That is when I finally got my 10yo son's aspergers diagnosis and I didn't want to take chances with the MMR. His pediatrician is not supportive of AP or delayed/no vax. I found a doctor who is supportive and he will be our PCP starting in October.

Now I need to decide if I'll tell the new doctor I want no vaxes or a delayed schedule. Which would be best if I take the stance that vaxes contribute to autism and want to avoid that? How old are they before it isn't a worry anymore?

We are in WA so we get a philosophical exemption. He's extended nursing and healthy. He has his 3, 6, and 9 month vaccinations but none since. He will be starting daycare for the first time in two weeks.

you do'nt need to decide now. I'd just say, I'm uncomfortable with vaccinating at this appointment. I'll take any info you have to look over in my free time. If we decide we want any vaccinations, you'll be the first to know.

And I'd NEVER get into the whole autism/vaccine thing.

I would always stick with the decision we made which is not to vaccinate at all.
We are very happy we made that decision.

Does anyone know if daycares have to accept an exemption form? Both centers and licensed home daycare?

Only if they receive some sort of state funding. Then that would mean that they would have to comply with the state laws. Otherwise, if it is totally private and doesn't get any state funding, they can make up their own rules about whether or not they will accept exemptions.

What would be considered state funding? Does accepting state pay count? Or being in the USDA food program?

Yes. both are government programs and makes them accept the laws. So they must accept all their programs including vaccine exemptions.

Here is the Washington State vaccine exemption.

Read it and post any questions you have or ask for help if you need some.

I just read through it and it seems all you have to do is copy and print this:

Quote:
Date

To Whom It May Concern: (or Dear Mr. Mrs. school principal name)

(We / I) {First and Last name(s)}, as the {(parent (s) /guardian(s)} of (name of child) are exercising (our/my) rights under the First Amendment of the US Constitution, RCW 70.83.020 and RCW 28A.210.090 to receive Religious Exemption from Vaccination, ALL injections, & testing.

Applicable law has been interpreted to mean that a religious belief is subject to protection even though no religious group espouses such beliefs or the fact that the religious group to which the individual professes to belong may not advocate or require such belief.

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as amended Nov. 1, 1980; Part 1605.1-Guidelines on Discrimination Because of Religion.

Our legal rights are guaranteed by the free exercise clause of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. Recent court decisions have upheld the rights of individuals seeking exemptions from immunizations based upon personal and religious reasons.

On the U.S. Supreme Court level in Frazee V. Illinois Dept. of Security, 489 U.S. 829, it was found that a state may not deny an exemption simply because a person is not a member of a formal religious organization.

Please file this in my child's school/ day care cart for future references.

Sincerely,
That is basically what we did (for our state). We then got it notarized, just because it looks more official, and handed it to the school secretary. No problem. That was about 5 years ago.
