Baby Names-Have you decided yet?

Hey guys...my hubby and i have been considering names for quite some time now so i thought it would be a great idea if we said names we like and/or have decided on. Even if you just want to throw some names around that you are not planning on using just to join in ...that's great too!!

Names we have decided on:

Boy: Jace Jonathan
Girl: Jaylen Paige

Other names we( and by "we i really mean I) like:
Girls

Jamie
Payton
Jamese
Justice

Boys
Joshua
Jasper
Kristoph
Kamanie

Abigail Eliza or Brayden Michael. We decided a long time ago.

Nice names ladies!!

We haven't even discussed it. We had a name picked out for a girl when B was a boy, but we're not going to use it either now.

yes I have. Ive had these names picked out since high school lol. (sorry rather not post them yet as I dont want to jinx myself)

Zelly Anne and Finnegan Hubert.... we've had these picked out since we got engaged

We've talked very briefly about it over the years but we likely won't decide til the last minute. We don't plan to know the gender but even so we don't plan to have a for sure boy and girl name picked out.

My 12 year old son picked the baby's name when we first started trying. He would have been 6 and he wanted his sister to be named "Magic"

dh and i had several names we LOVED before getting pregnant...and we were together for 7 years before we got pregnant! and then when i got pregnant none of them "fit." the baby in my womb was extremely opinionated! it was a source of some stress because dh was SET on these names and i wasn't, and we couldn't find one that worked. so i just waited. and eventually i started dreaming about her, with her name, over and over again. until that point neither of us had liked any of the names i had suggested, but we were both like "oh...we like that" once the dreams started. and then when i gave birth the first thing i said was, "oh it's you! it's wren!" : the name -- wrenna -- is super sentimental and personal for that reason. (not that other names aren't, obviously!)

so...we take a very lackadaisical approach to names...i like to feel out who these little beings are first. i did dream of a baby with a very specific name a few months before i got pregnant, a few times. it doesn't NOT fit yet, which is surprising. we will see!!

i think dh will always be a little sad that we won't use the names we've had planned since we were 20 though. lol.

I have a lot of trouble with boy names, I don't know why...I just never like them. Some that I do like:

Felix
Gabriel
Nicholas

Girl's names I have NO problem with, the real problem is getting them down to a manageable list. Since I was young I thought my first daughter would be named Emilia - but since then it's kind of exploded in popularity and I don't want her to be one of several in her class. My short list is:

Emilia
Nayeli
Gertrude (but I hate this name in Spanish, and half of my family is Spanish-speaking)

We've discussed names for awhile before we were pregnant and we're pretty set on Silas James for a boy or Evelyn Marie (Evey) for a girl.

I haven't decided, but my 3yo DD has named the baby in HER belly "Buffy". And says I can name MY baby Buffy too, if I want.

DH and I have had names picked out since our first baby

If it's a girl (I'm hoping!) her name will be Claire.

Boy will be Ethan.

oh i really like Ethan, but hubby is insisting on a "J" name! lol

We like Lyric Rose for a girl. Boys are tricky. I like Leif Alexander but DH is not a fan of Leif so we are still working on a boy's name.

I have always wanted to name a girl child after my Gramma (Ruby) but since this will be great grand-child number 5 and the one that was born this week #2 has her name as a middle name and the name has become really popular (which makes sense since lots of Gramma's have cool names) so I'm backing away from it slowly. With sadness but excitement at finding something perfect in it's own way.

Some girl names we (I) like but the list is really wide open:

Auden
Avis--this is a family name for DH and I like the way it sounds until I think about renting a car....
Mabel
Karina-pronounced ka-ree-na
Imogene- pronounced im-ah-geen (I know this isn't the correct pronounciation but I know a im-ah-geen and I like it that way...)

For a boy it will likely be some combination of William James Joseph or William James Andrew. We would call him Liam.

Both Dh and I have *4* names so we have quite a challenge to build good names for our children. We'd like to continue the 4 name tradition but meter becomes so much more important.

I love name threads and never get tired of them. Often, I am trolling for new ideas

We didn't name Evangeline until she'd been alive for a day or so. It drove the family and friends NUTS--which I kind of liked b/c any time I can drive my MIL nuts I am IN It's perfect for her b/c she's equal parts sweet and equal parts rock and roll.

We have names that we did not name Evangeline that we still really like:
Marley (after Bob of course, who has been the soundtrack of our lives together so very special meaning) and

Alina
Adeline

I really love the name "Amelia" too but know that it's quite popular. I only know of one other little girl named that and I only know her peripherally as she's the daughter of a friend of a friend. In Maryland, it's the 100th most popular name but nationally it's a little higher on the list. Still, I love it.

As for boys:

My "maiden" name, still part of my last name, is HAGAN. I love that name for a boy Even like it for a girl although would be a harder sell for DH as a girl's name (MEGAN is super popular though and it has the same timbre and sound).

Hagan Timothy would be my first choice (my Dh's name)
or Hagan Thomas (a family name on both sides; the first Hagan to set foot in the US was Thomas O'Hagan who came through Baltimore )

I am also ok with LIAM after my dad and my brother who are both Williams.

We shall seeeeeee..........so exciting but it's such a big responsibility to name a little being.

We have a boy and a girl name picked out, but we will definitely keep searching. I think we will end up sticking with the ones we have now, but you never know what you will find
post #19 of 32
For girls we're going with either Una Scarlett or Galatea Rose. Boys are harder at the moment. We like lots of fragments but no name sets yet. Keith is a favorite, Mack (as a middle name), Ephraim and Reid...all floating around out there. We'll probly pick one more girl name option too. We like to have three of each gender ready so that we can look at the baby and figure out which one fits best. Still a little homework to do.
