Non-Induction strategies

Ok, I have an 8:30 am appt tomorrow.

I know I'm going to hear a LOT of pressure to induce
my blood sugars are running high
my blood pressure is good, but not good for me (it's 130ish/86ish I generally run 90-110/50-60)
I've never successfully gone into labor naturally
The swelling in my legs has made it to my hands

and so on....

But, I want to wait....

suggestions?

Oh, and to complicate things, baby is not in a great position, and has been flipping to breech/transverse repeatedly, though settling back to head down.... If he/she is breech tomorrow, I know the hospital won't do a version, they'll force a c-section.

What is your edd again?

I dunno- as long as baby is doing fine, I'd just say... No thank you.

"Let me get back to you"
"I have to check with my DH/DP, babysitter, etc."
"I'll call you to schedule that"
"Can we plan that for tomorrow? Today's just not good." (and then just no-show or call to cancel)

Oh, and keep your pants on - although any practitioner who would break your waters with a non-engaged baby is INSANE, it's not unheard of.

Or you could just call today and reschedule your appt... tell them something came up and you just couldn't possibly make it, and could you schedule for next week? That'll give you at least 3 more days.

yes i agree with pp it is your choice, if you really don't want an induction, say no. i know it's not that easy since you do have some symptoms, but i'm sure they can do a biophysical profile, NST etc to make sure the baby is OK, right? and then take it from there?

I think I'll allow the NST and BPP- because there has been some decrease in movement- though I think it's more related to position as he/she is moving around a lot than anything else. I know I didn't feel nearly as much with DS towards the end as the polyhydramnios became a major issue, and I kind of think that's why baby is moving so much this time as well.

Declining the internal is probably my best bet. I'm also planning to drive myself so I have to at least be able to come home before returning. :P

Just say NO! The absolute worst that could happen is that they drop you as a patient and then you are stuck with whoever is on call at the hospital when you DO (and you will) go into labor . . . but isn't that always a possibility anyhow?

If they did drop me this close, I would still call them when I did go into labor. . .chances are they'll show up

They can't drop you at this stage of the game. They're required to give you 30 days notice.

lol- we're in such a tiny area that they can't really drop anyone anyway... I'd have to go to the hospital and they'd have to deliver- there isn't anyone else...

I'm hoping things look favorable for waiting it out, and trying to make peace with the possibility that it might not.
