I just read this today, and I'm completely and utterly shocked!! I'm not well-read on immigration laws at all, but it shocks me that this country blocks the rights of future citizens before they even have a chance to invoke the rights they have AS citizens. (does that make sense, I'm very pregnant and not very articulate right now!)

Is this new?

Big pharma has taken over. We live in a corporate state. No longer the United States but in The Corporation of America. Sorry to have to tell you.

That is sickening.

I think it's been standard for quite a while that all immigrants have to be up-to-date wrt CDC recommendations, and since Gardasil has such a wide age range, it's going to affect adults more than usual (plus the price). I think the only actual change was when CDC recommended Gardasil (at all, not specifically for immigration) and then it was just automatic that immigrants were affected.

At least there IS a vaccination waiver available- apparently you're still allowed to object to "the process of vaccination" but not to individual vaccines.

It also looks like they're planning to re-examine which vaccines are needed for immigrants, which leads me to beleive that the HPV vaccine will be taken off that list. But that won't happen in time to help this particular young woman.

And WTF was that lady saying at the end about "everybody has sex." Um, yeah, but if two virgins get married and are then mutually monogomous, there is ZERO risk of HPV or any other STD!!!

This echoes my thoughts. It sounds like the whole "dirty foreigners" thing, where you're supposed to get extra shots if you travel outside the US. As the wife of an immigrant, I may be extra quick to take offense at that, however.

Yes, and those people do exist. Here I sit before you...a virgin who married a virgin and are staying monogomous. We do exist!
