Slugs in strawberries

Thread Starter
Ok, I HATE slugs! I think they have eaten 70% of my strawberries this year?

I have tried beer, and they never took to it. I have used diatomiceous(sp?) earth before, but would rather not have to wash anything off, as DS likes to eat them straight from the plant.

Any thoughts?

Save your eggshells, crush them into largish pieces and mulch the bed with them. The sharp edges are a deterrent, and it's good for the plants, too.

You can also create a moat of salt around the bed (which will have to be reapplied after every rain) - or use copper tape if you're in a raised bed. Slugs won't cross either one.
