Friable crevix, anyone?

Has anyone else been told they have a "friable" cervix. My mw has suggested that due to all the amniotic fluid I have been leaking for the last 18 weeks that my cervix might be dried out and agrivated. When I first starting having "bloody show" (I use the " " because mine presents differently being that I have a regular faucet of amniotic fluid that continually washes through my cervix and does not allow any mucous to form), we thought labor would be around the corner, but now it seems like a pretty regular occurance. Whenever I have a gush of fluid, it is pink, instead of clear. My mw believes that the fuid is picking up a bit of blood each time it passes through my cervix...???

Iam just curious if anyone else has been told that they have a friable cervix? Do you know why it is that way? Do you bleed alot toward the end of pg as your cervix is softening and dilating. Do you bleed during labor a lot while dilating? I just don't know what to expect as I get closer. I know that I have strange circumstances that no one else shares, but any insight about the subject would be appreciated.

I was diagnosed with a friable cervix at about 10 weeks with my 3rd child. I was going to a mw at a birthing center and they did a routine pap smear, only when she was done I gushed out a bunch of blood. It totally freaked me out, I thought I was miscarrying. I am not sure if it was no longer friable at birth (I am not really sure how it all works) but I don't remember having any more blood because of it at birth. Sorry I don't have more info for you.
Warmly,
Erin

I have no clue on that, but I'm glad to see your post, I was just thinking of you!! Have you gone to thumb your nose at those peris that told you you'd never make it to viability?? Here you are walking around full term!!!

Your body amazes me

I know, ITA with 2boyz- absolutely amazing...this baby WANTS to be here, no doubt about it!!!!

I have no insight to offer you about when labor will show/what to expect. I think you should just expect the unexpected at this point, yk?

Sorry I disappeared for a few days...the weekend has been crazy busy with no time to check in. I was hoping that more folks would have insight on the friable cervix issue...but oh well. I guess I am on my own with this too. 2boyz and julia24, thanks for your words of encouragement. No, I have not gone thumbing my nose at anyone, but I sure would like to...maybe I will send a birth announcement. And you're right, Julia, expect the unexpected. It seems I need to retrain my brain to just expect that my body does things it's own way, but ultimatewly this baby really wants to be here. I am 38 weeks tomorrow and now all my friends and mw are half joking that I will go overdue.

One other thing that dawned on me last night was with all the increased amniotic fluid lately, how will I know if this baby's sac springs a leak. I suppose I would know it if it really broke and I gushed out all it's fluid, but a leak would just blend with all the other leaking, which I might add has had a steady increase in the last month. I got back on my vit. C and echinacea just in case...
