Apparently I am scaring people now

Today some random guy at the grocery store said "you must be nearly there" and when I replied "about 2 weeks left", he then said very adamantly "you look it!" Hmmmm, I am trying not to take that the wrong way! And yesterday someone asked me if I was expecting twins!!! : Umm, pretty sure I do not look that huge! And I had a lady guess (not that I asked!) that I already had an 8lb baby in there--I hope not! (Luckily my MW just laughed when I told her about that one.)

It actually doesn't bother me, I find it amusing that I have reached the point where total strangers have no problem commenting on my belly. And I really don't think its all that big. I guess people just forget what a 9 month belly is like.

I can't go anywhere where there are other people without getting into a conversation about when I'm due or if I'm having twins or if it's a boy (we don't know but everyone seems to think my belly looks like a boy).

We were at a restaurant the other day and the chef came up and said "hey don't worry, if you go into labour we have plenty of towels and hot water"

I am getting a lot more looks now but I have really become such a homebody, not really wanting to go out. It doesn't help that I waddle like a freakin' duck right now and with all my kids with me I look like a mama duck with her chicks except mine are NEVER in a nice neat row behind me, they are usually running circles around me

It's funny but people do become more brave near the end and say some really wacky things!

I don't really mind it - half of the comments just crack me up!!

It's true, though, it seems the bigger you get, the bolder strangers get!

I think I"m going to start responding "actually, I'm in labor right now" just to see the looks on people's faces.

I just never think of these kinds of responses in the moment, but this would be hilarious!

I've been lots of comments too, though i've not yet had anyone try to touch my belly, which I was warned was for sure going to happen. A couple people I work with that I've never had a touchy relationship with have patted me on the shoulder recently. It really does bring out a different side of people. I wonder how I've reacted around pregnant people. I think I've always just ignored them but I probably did stare at their belly...hmm...

i *was* in labor, out in public. on monday evening, i went to the grocery store that way. my 3 year old was acting like a total monkey, i was contracting every 3-4 minutes for 45+ seconds at a time. (as it turned out i was about seven cm dilated and only about a few hours from delivering my baby.) my DD was acting a little out of control and it was all i could do to hold it together myself. nobody commented on my size, i'm sure it was quite obvious i was pregnant. but i got a few looks re: her behavior. i bet nobody knew i was actually in active labor at that point. my mom was with me in the store, and afterwards she said it looked like my contractions had stopped when we were in there. i said oh no they were coming fast and furious.

you never know what people are actually going through when you see them in public.

Me too. I even go to the same cashier at the grocery store each time, because she's been so interested, I want her to see & get the latest news.

I agree that people completely forget how big pregnant women get at the end - in the movies/tv, etc. they get these cute bumps that most of us sported months ago! Some of the comments I get are really positive and some are downright mean about how much I'll have to lose after the baby arrives - to the positive people, I am pleasant but I don't have a great response to rude people. I'm too pregnant to be witty right now.
