EC'ing a boy at night w/o sitting up?

My LO is 5 months, and we're doing pretty good with the EC during the day (miss lots of pees, but catch almost all poos and lots of pees). We're having lots of problems with leaky diapers at night (still working on finding the right diaper...lots of trial and error). I just had a thought about trying to EC a boy at night:

In the hospital, they have these bedpan/urinal things that they give to men who need to pee while lying in bed. Not a regular bedpan, but it's kind of like the shape of a bent bottle/jar with a little handle on it. Anyone tried something like this (or a homemade version) in order to EC a boy in bed w/o having to sit up and put him over a potty or bowl? I like the idea of EC'ing at night, but am not crazy about sitting him up and holding him over something. I think it would be kind of a hassle for me, and he would totally wake up all the way (he's a pretty light sleeper these days). If we could do it lying down, though, it might work.

Thoughts?

I've wondered about this, too, but my ds is only 5 wks and still pees and poops at the same time sometimes - so I need a real container! Haven't tried night ec yet... I'm too afraid he'll get ticked and wake his older brother.

My little dude never poos at night anymore (which makes changing him in the bed WAY easier!).
