Pimples . . . in a 7-year-old?!

My DD has two what appear to be pimples--the big red kind--on her chin and the tip of her nose. Is this something to be concerned about? Do you think it warrants a doctor visit, or has anyone ever seen this in such a young girl?

Could be staph. I think I would get them checked out.

Maybe its bug bites? But it could be pimples if it runs in the family that would be a clue. My very first pimple was when I was 8 and in 3rd grade. It was a big pimple on my nose and I have my school pictures to remind me of it.

My dd starting getting those this year, she is 8. She doesn't get them all the time, but on occasion. I just have her wash her face twice a day and it seems to really help.

I would only worry about staph if it was painful, had deep puss and has a purplish hue to it. I've had staph (not on my face) and it was obvious they weren't pimples. Ouch and yuck.

I was going to ask the same question! My 7yo has had quite a few pimples appear in the last 2 months. A few white heads on her face, a few blackheads, a white head in her groin area......I too was wondering if it was normal.

I agree. The two "pimples" on my 13 month old's arm last week were staph and required antibiotics...dr said they would have spread and caused a fever in a couple of days if I had not medicated him when I did. Can't hurt to check- saph is easy to treat in its early stages but gets harder later.

Usually I'm not an alarmist, but that is really young for cystic acne. I would have it checked for staph. My 10 year old had a couple "pimples" last summer that turned out to be staph.

It was staph here too. He had two and hey looked exactly like pimples (not purple/pussy/etc.).
