Honestly, HE is the one providing the service that YOU are paying for. You have every right to set the parameters for your dog's care. I've had vets tell me that they don't recommend doing just the rabies vaccine, what they think I should do and why. I thank them for their input and say that we'll just get the rabies today and that's that. I care about the health of my dog much more than the vet's ego.

As far as cost, usually individual vaccines will cost more since they are given at separate visits to spread them out. On the other hand you'll be giving fewer vaccines and less often, so that will help. To me the cost is worth it, but everyone has to decide that for themselves.
